Publié le 10 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayHost does Not refund ANYTHING. Paid for 25 guests (anything over 11 is an added charge) but only 20 were able to attend. Host would NOT refund me for the 5 guest charges. House was acceptable but there are safety concerns. Wiring needs updated. Pool roof needs replaced. Make sure you are aware of all fees. Very disappointed in communication with Host.

Unfortunately reviews of late could be simply backlash from guests not getting their stays costs reduced to their liking Despite them knowing the Agreement is not a “flexible agreement” to their satisfaction.
This guest really struggles with the truth as, I offered in a text to ACCEPT her First 2 changes and no to a third.
Complaint of 1). “wiring needing updated” is nonspecific at best!
2) “pool house roof needs replaced” is also unspecific and uniformed as there are no missing shingles and only 12 yrs old for a 20yr warranteed shingle.
I was actually considering refunding some money only because her Aunt
Personally apologized for Ms. Hunters behavior for misleading Vrbo Support in her effort to get her way.
The big take away for future guests is that Ms Hunter did actually say “the house was acceptable “.

Family reunion getaway
Publié le 18 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThe peaceful surroundings and multiple outdoor entertainment spaces made it an ideal place for our family reunion and birthday party.
There were multiple levels and stairways inside that made it a little difficult to navigate for older people in the party but at the same time gave privacy to the different family groups when needed.

The pool inside was a big hit. We were a little worried about getting to come after Hurricane Beryl but they took care of the house & large yard area before we arrived.. owners were super quick to answer any questions. Great place for relaxation & enjoy time away from life’s busyness.

Not as advertised

We had dead bugs in several rooms, dead bugs in some beds, nails sticking out of the front stairs(tripping hazard), two people put their foot through rotted dock boards. The pool room is a joke, the pool table and ping pong table are so old they were unusable. Shaky toilet with smells coming from it. The master bath tub/shower was very dangerous to get into and out of. The listing doesn’t state how many stairs are in the property but it was very dangerous for small children.

It was trash not what was advertised. We got there around 3 to make sure we could find the property.
Publié le 15 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayI believe the property used to be beautiful and upkept. I have pictures of the property. The property was not safe to stay. We never even stayed long enough for the rest of our people to arrive. Has to find another place for over these men to.retreat.
To be clear no one stayed there
This place is definitely what was advertised... I have picture for.

To our future guests: We thought we were renting for a "Christian Mens Retreat", However 2 out-of state vehicles show up 1:15 hr. early without permission, while prepping crew still working and after 5 men, 40-65 yrs old stood for 5 min in driveway taking pictures of front and side yard approach me me to say, "the babies won't like this, (?), .....how do i get a refund as house is not safe to stay in as pictures are not as advertised" Cheryl, a woman?.. texted me during the 5 min, whom I never saw and doubt was there, "we must have the wrong address as the place is Horrible and want a refund" I texted her our Agreed on no refund policy. I quickly asked the safety man for an example of a safety issue, and he showed me a side view of 2 wooden benches turned on their side stored under upper deck. I laughed and agreed," yes they are unsafe If you sit on them as is, so i will set them up right so nobody hurts themself. In our 14 yrs of successful Hosting at VRBO we have never encountered 'adults' with this level of common sense and arrogance?
No guest has Ever said, "not as advertised"
We really felt sorry for the rest of the group with their dictated extra cost, hope they DID enjoy the rest of the retreat, but really relieved the "mean ones" didn't stay here!

Publié le 12 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayExcellent property with many extras, indoor pool, Pickle Ball, boat launch ramp, etc. It could use a maintenance up date. Pool, plumbing, light bulbs out, Bees nest, and a good house cleaning.

Awesome host
Publié le 3 déc. 2023 sur HomeAway2nd year having my company Christmas party at this location. Everyone enjoyed this beautiful home on the lake. Bruce is a wonderful host and made sure we had everything needed to ensure our stay was a memorable experience.
