Excellent stay...

We had a great stay. Very clean and close to everything (as long as you don't mind a hill) excellent breakfast and my wife is Gluten free but this wasn't a problem. We where very welcomed and nothing was a problem. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you for everything...

Very close to Dales Way for great walks directly from the property, also within a short walking distance of the town and lake, lots of options for cafe's pubs and restaurants. Really great base for South Lakes

Lovely view and clean quiet property. Watch out for the hill to climb to get there though!

Hello Raymond Thank you for your review. We are glad that you appreciated the view from your room as well as the cleanliness and peacefulness of our Victorian home and B&B. The hill that we are situated upon opens up onto open fell with gorgeous walks including The Dales Way, a long distance footpath between Bowness on Windermere and Ilkley. Our location is particularly fab for people walking this pretty trail as Blenheim Lodge is the first guest house off The Dales Way in Bowness on Windermere. Yes, our house is situated on top of a hill lane, but without being located where we are, you wouldn't have had the far-reaching Lake views that you enjoyed from your en-suite bedroom. In fact, all our rooms offer amazing views either of Lake Windermere and fells or of Brant Fell and its woodlands. Depending on how quickly one walks, that 3-5 minutes' walk along Brantfell Road from our B&B keeps Blenheim Lodge just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness centre, yet offers facilities and attractions practically on our doorstep. The hill protects us from noise, which means that guests who enjoy peace and quiet will enjoy the sound of silence when staying at Blenheim Lodge.

Good location if you don’t mind hills. Bowness is a very nice village and a cruise on Lake Windermere was very good with a stop off at lovely Ambleside.

The room was far to small. My wife and i mamed it the shoe box. Location good but the climb up the hill if you were impaired in any way was far to difficult. Should be mentioned in hotel location. Ovreall feeling wouldn't recommend.

Hello Rick, I am sorry that you found the room too small for yourself and your wife. However, we have no means of describing our rooms on Expedia - only tick boxes, and the photos which depict a small room with a nice walk-in shower en-suite, which I see you failed to mention. I did also tell you and your wife about the easier route uphill, but without the hill, you wouldn't have had the fabulous views of Lake Windermere and fells from your bedroom. Of course, you could also have driven your car or used a taxi to take you up and down hill. Again, there is no opportunity to mention this aspect of Blenheim Lodge on the Expedia site, but we did our best by putting up photos showing our hillside location, with the views looking DOWNWARDS of the house, thereby indicating the incline between the house and the centre of Bowness, where the Lake is. Please note that there isn't even a tick box to state that we are located on a hill, much less a hilltop. The road name is "Brantfell Road". In dictionaries, "Brant" means steep, and a fell is a hill or mountain. Thus, the steepness of the road is amply described already in its name. I am sorry that you felt it necessary to blame us for the road, when we have had no input into the building of it, nor the creation of the hill itself. The Lake District is full of hills and mountains, and we and many guests over the years love our location because it is peaceful and on the edge of walks onto open fell and viewpoints, yet the local amenities, activities, and Windermere's shores are only 5 minutes' walk from our door.

A great stay…

The whole experience was brilliant, within an hour of booking the owner contacted me to advise of the Covid restrictions in place and offered me to cancel with a full refund even know I booked with the no cancellation refund policy. We chose to continue as the Covid measures in place would not affect us and I’m glad we did. The check in process was quick and seamless and we soon had our bags in the room and then went to the village to get dinner…. The room was very clean and spacious with generous storage options. We met Janz, who gave us great options for places to eat and visit while we was there and was very helpful. Everything we needed was available and if it wasn’t you just had to ask. Fresh milk was available for tea which was a nice change to the long life options you normally get. The location was perfect. Parking in the town was a nightmare but with the location of the lodge, you could easily walk to the town centre, where there was bus stops talking you to other nearby places as well as the ferry. Janz even told us of a shortcut we could take which cut out the steep hill. We enjoyed our visit to the Lake District and if we ever decide to return then I’d definitely stay here again.

Nice stay in Bowness on Windermere

The lodge was nice and clean, tucked away from the main street up a bit of a hill. The room was good but we were disappointed to have not received breakfast due to covid. A substitute such as a fruit bowl or packaged cereal/croissants could easily have been provided to make up for it whilst still keeping covid measures.

Without the hill, you wouldn't have been able to enjoy the immensity and breadth of Lake Windermere to the fells beyond. Your view was panoramic and encompassed approximately 8 miles of Windermere's 10.5-mile length. I wish to point out the unfairness of your comment that you did not receive breakfast. Please click on our Covid-19 Precautions document where there is more information about what we are doing in order to inhibit the spread of the virus, and for which we request your co-operation, such as the opening of your room door and windows before you leave, bagging up of your rubbish and leaving it outside your door for us to pick up when you leave us, etc. We will also not be cleaning the room during your stay, but please ask if you require anything eg toilet rolls, teabags, milk etc. You will be aware that your booking does NOT include breakfasts, but there are many local places open for breakfasts, so please book ahead.
