Windermere spacious 4 bed 4 bath house, parking & 5 mins walk to village & Lake

Our spacious and comfortable 4 bed, 4 bathroom house is located in Bowness-on-Windermere in the heart of English Lake District. Last updated in January 2024 it is ideal for families and friends looking for a well equipped holiday home in the stunning area of the Lake District National Park, which in 2017 became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is has been designed as an upside down house to make the most of the mountain views.

Please Note: Weekly stays our changeover day is a Friday so your week will require a Friday date. For 3 nights short breaks we can offer a Friday or Monday start date. Should you choose different days to start your holiday we may need to amend the dates of your stay if you are flexible. Please note the house can only accommodate 7 people plus one infant (under 18 months) maximum.

Our location is superb, being just five minutes walk from the village of Bowness-on- Windermere, with its excellent shops and eateries, whilst also having the lake shore on your door step. And despite our central location we have plenty of guest parking within our grounds with room for 4 cars.

The 4 ground floor bedrooms all have en-suite shower facilities, so its not too far to carry your luggage! There are 3 doubles and 1 single. A travel cot is also available (you will require your own bedding). Please note: the house does not have a bath. The 4 en-suites are not large we have tried to show these on our photos; each one has a standard sized shower, washbasin and toilet but obviously each bedroom having an en-suite is often seen a bonus. However, if you are requiring very large bathrooms we are unable to provide.

Upstairs there is a very spacious and stylish living space. The large lounge has 3 sofas to relax on and a large wall mounted SMART TV, so you can steam all the usual subscription services. There is a small office set up with large glass desk & office chair to use if you are unlucky enough to have to a little bit of work!! We offer free fibre WIFI. There are also many toys, jigsaws, books and board games for you to enjoy. The separate elegant dining room comfortably seats a large party with a high-chair for the little one.

The kitchen & utility room are very equipped with most of the gadgets and cooking utensils you will find at home enabling you to enjoy home cooked meals. And if you fancy an al fresco meal or just some drinks, outside there is a patio area with table & chairs and a BBQ.

We are situated in a peaceful part of Bowness-on-Windermere, our location is just set back from the main lake road on the edge of the village so we are only a few minutes gentle stroll to Lake Windermere and all that Bowness village has to offer or Windermere is an easy 20 mins stroll up the road.

We have 1 travel cot and high chair available. We have free fibre Wi-Fi, bed linen and 1 bath & hand towel pp, and bath mats. We also provide dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels, handwash and starter toilet rolls etc.

We welcome a well behaved dog but just ask they are not left in the house unattended, although we are happy for you to bring a pet crate for the house. We do not charge for 1 dog, should you wish to bring 2 please contact me prior to booking to seek permission, we make an additional £40 cleaning fee for a 2nd dog.

Our weekly changeover day is a Friday, but we do offer short breaks. Check in is 3pm and check out 10am. We always text guests when the house is ready if earlier than 3pm .to hearing from you.

The house is comfortable, nicely furnished and most importantly super clean. Lots of room for all of us with comfy beds and 4 bathrooms was a godsend. The kitchen was great with all the gadgets you’d have at home. Georgie was really helpful and certainly has thought of everything you might need for a great holiday. The location could not be better, far enough away from the hustle and bustle but only a short stroll walk away. The house has many great reviews, when we booked we only noted only one poor one, which in all honestly, now we have stayed we think the people were posting about a different house or must have been very strange as we could not find any faults. In fact we have already looked at dates to book for June. We have given 5 stars and would highly recommend to any family wanting a great location, great house and lovely host. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Promises a lot but delivery of quality amenities poor.
The bedrooms were very small and did not provide bathrooms x 4 Bed & bath is misleading. Pokey shower facilities and some shower cubicles were without soap trays or shampoo shelves to use as one showers. No door hooks adequately provided. Water trickled out of the showers making it imposssible to lather up. Bedding was very old and tired.I’ve thrown better away. Kitchen looked adequate until one came to find the right pans for the induction rings. Only one pan Was provided, the others would not function, big oversight this. Washing machine but no soap powered provided!!! Poor all round, couldn’t wait to get home. Over priced and neglected. Doors didn’t close. Carpets were fitted but doors not!!!! Clothes hanging facilities a sad joke. Less than ikea standard. My advice don’t go to this place. Next door guests were noisy and when reported contact was disbelieving.

Summer Break in the Lake District
We had a wonderful stay and Georgie could not be more accommodating including allowing us to check in a day earlier due to the prior guests checking out early. The house is well equipped and the location is almost exactly in between Windermere and Bowness. We loved the fact we could walk in both directions so the location is just ideal. We would thoroughly recommend this house for any family looking to explore the Lake District. We really appreciated the communication both prior to and during out stay. The welcome pack that was provided, included a parking pass and some goodies that the family really enjoyed. Would go back in the future if we are in the area.

A super location with all local amenities near by.
Overall, the location is a huge advantage and we had a really lovely time. The house itself is comfortable, but we did not think it warranted the 'immaculate' listing it was given. The listing photos show the more up to date areas but other areas, not photographed, are in need of improvement to warrant the house being described as immaculate. A couple of examples being, bedroom door handle almost falling off (which was tricky as the door to the bedroom got stuck on the new carpet and wouldn't shut or open easily), a lot of dirty and chipped crockery, dirty windows and tea towels with brown stain on. We were there at a busy time and road noise is very evident. The host is very friendly and easy to get in touch with. We had a lovely welcome basket of goodies on arrival, which was very thoughtful.

The property is in a brilliant position for all amenities.It’s a short stroll to the shops,bars,restaurants and the lake.The bus stop is positioned in front of the property which is ideal if you don’t fancy driving. The house was everything as explained in the advertisement.A nice touch,was a welcome pack left for us on our arrival.In addition to that we had a great host in Georgeene who was available at hand at anytime to sort out any problems if needed.I would definitely return in the future for another family holiday.

Great Location
House is in a good spot for walking into Bowness and the bus stop is just at the end of the drive. House is fully equipped with everything you need. The on suites are small but each bedroom has one. It’s right on the road so it can be a bit noisy but that the payoff for the great location. Handy large fridge in the utility room. Lots of tourist info in the house. The living room is large as is the dining room so it was perfect for the 6 of us.

Georgie was very helpful at all points. The Christmas decorations were lovely. I had misunderstood the photos, that featured a real fireplace and presumed we could have a real fire, but there was actually no fire of any type in the fireplace.

Break from the big smoke
Amazing location for a week away in the lakes to walk, explore and cycle. The rooms are well appointed but during our stay it did feel damp within the bedrooms but not an issue upstairs in the main living area. We are out most of the time but the kitchen has all that we required for breakfast time. Great dinning table for socialising. Recommend by us all

Georgie was easy to contact and regularly contacted us to make sure we knew what was going on. The house was well equipped and at least one of our children wanted to make it our permanent home! Easy to walk into Bowness-on-Windermere, which we did a few times, although the road can be quite busy so be careful crossing. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge cosy. We had a fantastic holiday helped by a lovely house to come back to!

Very centrally located house just steps away from restaurants, bars and lake. Comfortable house, with all the necessities, home away from home. All bedrooms with en suite, so no queue for showers or toilets especially when a big family. Host very helpful, very prompt if you need assistance. I would definitely book again in future, we were a family of six and we had a very good time in Bowness.

We arrived early hoping to park the car and head into town till check in. The lovely owner was there and said we could have the property early, very much appreciated on a hot day! The house Itself is very clean, comfortable and warm with plenty of room for 6 of us it was our first time together as a family since the lockdown, so was a very special week all round. It is a 10 minute walk into Bowness so very convenient for a great selection shops and restaurants.
