Wedding weekend
Publié le 29 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur stay at John & Claudia’s guesthouse made our celebration of our daughter’s wedding extra special! With it being only 5 minutes from the venue and close to town made it very easy and stress free to relax and just enjoy the whole experience. The guesthouse was clean and decorated beautifully for our fall wedding weekend. There was plenty of space for our immediate family and our now newly extended immediate family. This guesthouse made our experience complete as we could spend time with everyone and for everyone to get to know each other even more. If you have a wedding in your future or you are looking for a quiet country setting to relax you should definitely check out this guesthouse. Awesome place and time. Thank you again John & Claudia for completing our celebration with this beautiful place and easy process of check in and out!

Cozy Cabin
Publié le 19 août 2024 sur HomeAwayOur group of 8 adults aged 43-75 stayed 4 nights in August. We all loved the cabin. We came to relax and unwind and this was the perfect setting. The cabin is super clean. The kitchen is well stocked. The bedrooms were comfortable. It was nice not having a tv on the ground floor as it led to more quiet time and more time to converse. The yard and nature trail were beautiful. Our dogs had a great time in the yard. We appreciated wood was left to use in the fire pit. The dining room table was a great size for us. The basement was great at night with the bar and the tv as people could hang out down there and not disturb others who were sleeping on the other floors. The front porch became a great spot to sit during the day with the comfortable rockers and swing. The hosts were super nice and laidback. John went so far as to track down where they bought the rocking chairs on the porch for us. If you are traveling with mobility challenged people this might not be the house for you. There are no railings on any of the outside stairs into the house. Also the beds except the bunk beds are all very high. One thing that would enhance the experience would be to invest in new dining room chairs. I get the current chairs are meant to go with the vibe of the house but none of them are really comfortable. All in all though it is a great cabin and we would absolutely stay here again.

Fun Family Time Together!
Publié le 12 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis was the third time our family has stayed at The Gambrel Guesthouse. John and Claudia are wonderful hosts! The house is very clean and well stocked; the yard is large enough for bags, baseball, badminton, etc. There is a great firepit with lots of wood for s'mores, pudgy pies, etc A nice lake/beach is nearby. Many fun memories were made! Thanks!

Fantastic Cabin in the Woods
Publié le 18 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayI had four guys up to play golf at Sand Valley and this was a super location and outstanding cabin! The fire pit was perfect after a round to relax on a cool evening. The pool table was a hit as well! All the beds were super comfy, showers/bath had great pressure and plenty of hot water. It was super quiet for sleeping and great coffee in the morning! We will be back next year and in the years to come! John was a great host!!!!! Highly recommended!!!

Front porch full of rocking chairs, so peaceful; tons of bedrooms; a pool table, games & puzzles for rainy days. There were 10 of us, plenty of room for everyone. It was a great stay - thanks John!

Quiet and Quaint, with an Amazing Homestead

The house had anything and everything you would ever need. If you want to sit by the fire and watch the stars, take a nice walking path, sit downstairs with the tv while people play pool, you can do it all. John and Claudia are amazing and willing to help in any situation that you would need. I would highly recommend this place and look forward to hoping to book again in the future.
