Dead rats not welcoming for vacation

Very disappointing, we could have stayed in Falmouth for less and way nicer accommodations with kitchenette. I’m fighting for partial refund as completely unkept outdoors, horrible smell from 2 dead rats outside back door, and left in the basement. Cobwebs everywhere, very disappointing part of our trip.

Great location!

Nice 1-bedroom with easily accessible loft within walking distance of Woods Hole village. Very clean with a nice kitchen and bath. Needs some attention to the yard and to the sump pump. I was also disappointed that the window air conditioners had not been installed yet.

Pictures are deceiving

The house is cutely decorated, but the house has some issues. The renovations are not great, the kitchen and bathroom are nice, but the rest of the house needs some improvements, the dividing walls are plywood with cracks( can see light through the other room) no closet door, house has a “lean” to it, washer/dryer in scary dingy basement, and our biggest issue was it advertised it has AC, which in June you need, the window units were on the floor not hooked up and the house is very stuffy. The staircase is unsafe for smaller kids with wide openings on the railing. When we had no AC the rest of the items were hard to overlook. The plus was the interior was clean and it is convenient to ferry and Woods Hole. The host offered to have someone come install the ACs but we were so turned off on the situation and condition of the overall house we stayed somewhere else. And No, as of checkout day, we had not been offered any kind of refund.

Joanna, thank you for letting us know you liked our home's decor and found it clean and conveniently located! That said, we apologize for the areas you found needing some TLC. We regret that the A/C was not working sufficiently and that our local manager's offer to remedy this during your stay was not convenient for your party. They assured us that the A/C was installed recently and the home has been getting updates throughout the year. The basement is fully lit and the railings are closed off. We strive to provide our guests with wonderful getaways and are sorry your experience did not reflect this. We hope the refund you received alleviated some of your frustration and that we have the chance to better impress you on your next getaway.

A charming cottage for a happy holiday!

The cottage was everything we hoped for - charming, comfortable, carefully and casually designed! The location is perfect for walking into the village or walks along the beaches. Even in Woods Hole is a wonderful place to be!

Cozy, clean cottage on a quiet street in Woods Hole. Close to the bike path and to downtown. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had a good supply of cooking equipment, and the cottage was clean.

Conviennent cottage

Small neat basic cottage with a good location. Perfect for us because we had relatives in the area. One suggestion bring your morning coffee, milk and sugar. Tea is supplied.

Far from "Perfect Cape Cottage" as advertised

Cottage in good location with new appliances but… Random items cluttered our closet. Bedroom curtains didn’t open fully, making the room dark. Bathroom wonderful but shower set to tepid. Kitchen fine, but no kettle and so little cutlery we had to buy more, since reimbursed. Not every window had a screen; when we opened one such, the window ledge was alive with ants. We shut it promptly and were glad we’d packed Off! Storm door unscreened; agent obligingly provided a new one. They also fixed a pumping defect in the cellar & told us what to do if recurred (it did). Dodgy electrics? When sitting on the 1 hard sofa with back door open we were on view of our very close neighbours; a fence would help. Only outdoor furniture was abandoned broken chairs. Hilly front lawn with bare patches shelved so abruptly near road we had to traverse to avoid falling; the stone steps were wholly inadequate & path had no lighting. Hazardous on 2 levels. How can it meet safety standards? Even entering was iffy. We were locked out one day when electronic combi-lock failed. Though assured there was a back-up key, we were never told where despite asking. Luckily, earlier issues meant we had area manager’s cell and he picked up! ‘Perfect Cape Cottage’ as per website? No. Apart from kitchen and bathroom it felt unconsidered & unloved. Good value? No again. We’ve asked for a part refund. R Eastman, Aug ’23

Great spot near Woods Hole !

Lovely stay. Clean, accurate listing, and convenient (ten minute walk to Woods Hole and easy access to Falmouth bike path, Surf Drive, and ocean). Pretty basic and simple, but it served its purpose for our family of 3!

Do the laundry....? How about no.

Is the place adorable and in a convenient location? Yes. Are the rules and check-in/out times absolutely ridiculous? YES. We have elderly family living on the cape and would have loved to re-book here but we won't because check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10? We asked to check out at 11 instead and were denied our request, only to arrive and see in the book that check-out used to be 11, but they had scribbled it out and wrote in 10. They had also written that it would be nice if we could throw a load of laundry in before leaving. If I'm expected to check out at 10, and I'm paying twice the price of the place in fees? Laundry isn't happening and it was a huge turn-off to be expected to do so. We loved the place itself, but the rules and expectations of us as guests will keep us from coming back again. It's not worth the stress.
