Beautiful property
Publié le 20 août 2024 sur HomeAwayBeautiful property. The guest house is tucked back behind the main house with good privacy and separate entrance to the pool. The guest house has everything you need. The huge screened in porch was the highlight for me!

Review of ‘Magical Cottage in the Woods’
Publié le 7 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayMy major disappointment was that I booked this cottage as it had a heated pool. It turned out that every time you wanted to use the ‘heated pool’ you needed to notify the owner to ‘ask her to turn on the heat.’ We all know it takes hours to heat a pool. When I texted to tell her I wanted to use it she texted, back, ‘the pool is 80 degrees.’ I returned to the property several hrs later and the water was very cold. I did not go in. If you say the pool is heated it should be heated dawn to dusk for our stay. No hot tub or washer as advertised.The photos looked great and made the cabin appear larger than it was. The bedroom did not have adequate shelves or a functional closet. The closet was approximately 1’deep x 3’wide. There was a bookcase with 3 empty shelves in the bedroom where I had to put SOME of my clothing. The rest had to be left in my suitcase. Our toiletries had to be stored on one of the bookcase shelves in the bedroom. There was no bathroom medicine chest & only one shelf approximately 3”x 10”. The kitchen and living rm were a nice open area and adequate size. Again, storage was an issue. ie; the broom had to be disassembled to fit into the cabinet.
There were large black ants throughout the cottage but, OK…I’m in the woods. Otherwise everything was very clean. Towels were new & plush.
There was an area to park your car which was about 500’ from the cottage. The owner provided a cart for us to bring our luggage up to the house.

As a 5 star superhost with 27 consistent 5 star reviews to date, I take hosting guests in my cottage very seriously. With painstaking attention to detail, from the overall cleanliness of the cottage to the quality of the amenities and linens, to special welcome gifts purchased for guests (for this couple I had a bottle of sparkling wine, chocolates, and coffee waiting in the cottage for them in celebration of their anniversary). In fact, the guests thanked me for the romantic atmosphere, spending a cold and rainy afternoon on the screened in porch sipping sparkling wine and eating chocolates.
Every aspect of the guest experience is thoughtfully considered. I made every attempt to give the guests a positive experience, and responded to multiple calls and texts everyday from them without any actual complaints made.
Some things to note:
We don’t have a washing machine or hot tub in or near the cottage, and we have never had these items in our VRBO description.
Our cottage is in the country and we have occasional bugs that find their way in. We have a professional exterminator that visits our property once a month to help manage the bugs.
It was raining and cold for 2 of the 3 days, but when it wasn’t raining, and despite the cold weather that dropped into the low 60’s in the evening, we kept the pool heater on and the pool temp at 80-81•.
The guests left 2 hours after check out.
Guests requested extra towels above the 12 left for a 2 person, 3 night stay.
The cottage is 160 feet from where guests park their car.

Just so wonderful experience. The caretakers of the property were incredibly attentive and helpful and made you feel like you were safe and protected. I thought of everything for comfort and convenience and quiet for an incredible getaway. This was truly a treasure and I’m so grateful that I found it because it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Always great to visit Woodstock again since I haven’t been there since I was a kid. I’m staying in the magical cabin in the Woods made it spectacular!

Great Woodstock stay
Publié le 23 août 2023 sur HomeAwayOur family of 3 had a fantastic time staying at Laurie’s cabin. It was clean, spacious, and the setting is gorgeous. Hanging around the fire pit was a definite highlight for us. The cottage is thoughtfully decorated (lots of hooks!) and had everything we needed for our stay. Laurie was a wonderful host, she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, had great recs for hikes and dining and even made sure we knew about a local fireworks show! We would definitely recommend this magical space!

Best Cabin in the Woods!
Publié le 21 juin 2023 sur HomeAwayThis cabin is in a beautiful secluded location while still being close to downtown Woodstock and accompanied by multiple amenities -- large, screened in porch, fire pit with seating, and access to the property's heated pool and pool loungers. The cabin feels brand new, and is both thoughtfully decorated and comes with all the necessary amenities. We were never lacking for anything while we stayed there. It's a perfect size and set up for a family with 1 or 2 children. And most importantly, our hosts, Laurie and David, were incredibly warm, welcoming, attentive, and kind -- while also respecting our privacy. We highly recommend this to anyone visiting Woodstock or the area and hope to come back soon!
