Take leisurely walks to Short Sands Beach from this one-bedroom York cottage, a cozy Southern Maine escape with a dog-friendly interior, a lovely front deck, and an ideal location close to shops, eateries, and the Nubble Light.

You'll find this single-level home just north of Cape Neddick, and three miles from the center of downtown York. Walk half a mile south (only eight minutes on foot) to sunbathe and swim at Short Sands Beach, stroll two miles south to check out the surf at Long Sands Beach, and head two miles southeast to admire the iconic Nubble Light at the tip of Cape Neddick. Traveling with kids? Be sure to take them to nearby York Animal Kingdom for rides and zoo animals!

With exposed beam ceilings, an open floor plan, and plentiful seating, this cottage is full of casual charm. Wake up each morning to check the tides on the free WiFi, prepare breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen, and take your dogs for a walk to the nearby lighthouse (please note that a 20 lb., two-dog limit).

Grab your bathing suits, towels, and picnic fixings and walk down to Short Sands Beach for a sun-splashed day of swimming and sandcastle-building. Wonderful Location for a fall getaway
We came up for UNH homecoming with our two German Shepherds. The property was spacious, clean, and well stocked with all of the essentials for a comfortable stay. We had a small issue with the shower draining but the property manager responded promptly to the concern. The location is absolutely perfect as it is right down the street from Long and Short Sands beach but far enough off of the main strip to avoid traffic. Access to route 1 and 95 makes this property a perfect jumping off point to get out and enjoy the area. Portsmouth is 15, Ogunquit 10, and Durham 25 minutes!

Place was clean. Didn’t like being next to the road of the camping site Ad says sleeps 6. I find that hard to believe. Beds were so small my husband and I had to sleep in separate beds. Very uncomfortable beds. Other than that nice place.

big mistake
not enough room here. will list a few faults. reserved cottage for one month and only stayed two weeks. needed so much that I didn't complain at the time because I didn't want anyone coming in and out. Mattresses were like sleeping in a hole. Filthy dirty filters on air conditioners. Terrible mold on shower curtain. Dirty shag rugs. Closet doors just leaning on side wall. Kitchen table leg just balancing and fell on my lap. Rose thorns so overgrown on handicap ramp so that I couldn't use my walker. constant traffic just 6 feet from living room window to campground next door. bad smell in cottage. kitchen cluttered with beach chairs and accessories which should have been kept in the shed where we had to carry our trash. floors need washing. did no good to complain to VRBO. talked to many people about being somewhat reimbursed after spending thousands. they gave me $225 back. I'd like VRBO to go and check out this cottage. We are two elderly women that saved for this months vacation and it was wasted. After staying there for 13 days, we couldn't take it anymore.. This is only a partial list.

We are not usually not complainers but sleep is important and the beds here were not comfortable. Pot holders or oven mitts would have been useful for oven items as would have been instructions about recycling, check out procedures and what to do with used linens.

All was great except…
We loved the deck the most and all day sun. Everything else was fine except the sheets on the bed NOT under the window were terribly scratchy and the bed not comfortable so was not for a good sleep the first night . We took the sheets off for the next night. Would be nice to have Kleenex and a few plastic small plastic lunch bags etc. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much.

This was a great cottage for my husband and I to enjoy a get away. We were able to bring our small dog too. We enjoyed walks to the beach, shops, and restaurants, as all were close by.

Short Beach Vacation
We stayed here as a family of four for two nights, and loved it! The place is clean and cozy. The walk into the downtown is about 6 minutes, and I actually really liked it. It was nice to have a walk after dinner in town!

We were pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of the place. It was beautiful in a great location. Perfectly cleaned Well stocked with supplies such as paper products, pots,pans dishes. Plenty of towels face clothes . Truly a wonderful experience!!!

This is a very nice place. We would definitely like to go again. There was a few minor issues we had, but the property manager was very nice and he made things right. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to go to York to check this place out.

Super cute!
This cabin is so cute! The beds are very comfortable, it was so clean and it has everything you need. Close walk to the beach and to york village. Great places to eat and shop near by. I would stay here again. Our check in time was 4:00. We showed up at 4:30 and the cleaner was just on his way out. He was very polite and the place looked great. We never needed to contact the host.

The property was very clean. The walk to the beach was not so bad either. One item to note is that the property is shared with the owners - which for us was perfectly fine. We were given our privacy and had no issues. Also, we were not able to close the gate for our dog (owners opened it after we shut it) - which our pup did fine with but if your looking for a fenced in property this likely is not it.

Cute cottage close to beach & town
Property was as described- perfect for our family of 4 and walking distance to beach and town. Place was clean and as described. Issues we had were 1. the bathroom doorknob didn’t latch or lock, so the door would swing open. 2. the TV and cable box kept shutting off after 20mins, regardless if we touched remote or volume. (Wouldn’t care so much except after long day at beach my kids wanted to watch a movie and relax in evening). 3. The two beds in the bedroom were extremely soft and worn. There were matteress pads on top of the beds but that did nothing. My 6yo slept fine but my husband and I tried both beds and one sunk in so bad in the middle we would roll towards each other. (We aren’t large people so this was definitely due to the wear and tear of the bed itself). We opted to sleep on the pull out futon in the LR instead. 4. The bathroom vanity shelf was falling off the wall as one screw was completely stripped out of the wall and another was partially so this was a concern as we didn’t want it falling on us or our young kids, or mirror shattering. This needs to be repaired! 5. The shower curtain liner was overdue to be replaced as it was discolored at the bottom. I always travel with some cleaning supplies and you better believe I scrubbed the tub/shower before letting my family use it! I think with these small fixes I would’ve given the property 5stars. I would return but would make sure things are fixed prior.
