This hotel chain was fabulous 20years ago. I booked with that in mind.
The ethos of the hotels has not changed but I felt the hotel ( in York) is looking and feeling tired in places.
That extra wow was missing. It was not helped with building works starting at 8am outside our bedroom window.
The food was good and the staff friendly and helpful. I feel a little TLC and upgrading is due to bring the Hotel du vin back in the running .
Very nice hotel, with plenty of parking. A bit of a walk into York though. Although the hotel and staff are all nice the standard of toilet paper was under par to say the least. The food wasn't up to the standard it should be. And our room was at the front of the building which looks onto a main road and found it rather noisy.
Breakfast wasn’t the best and staff should be more attentive, I wasn’t told where to go for breakfast on arrival and waitress just gave her official line she had rehearsed at the wrong time, wrong line at wrong time
Had the most fantastic stay, the staff is excellent and the rooms are impeccable.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Room wasn't ready when we arrived and wasn't cleaned one evening when we got home. Reception staff apologetic and very helpful, not their fault at all, but none the less. Room was clean but lights seemed to flicker constantly, an access hatch to the bath plumbing popped open at some point and wouldn't close – housekeeping also seemed to fail to fix it. Stay was fine overall, but I was perhaps expecting a little more given this was a special treat staying somewhere fancied than I'm used to!
The decor was lovely and different. We enjoyed the bath in the room, felt like a treat. The underfloor heating in the large bathroom was nice and the coffee machine was a nice extra too. The heating was not very intuitive and therefore we were a bit cold however it was a particularly icy day. Overall, we’d recommend this hotel for a nice stay which is a bit different.
Lovely stay, very disappointed to be charged for parking on a 3 night stay worth £700. We had two cars so £90, had this reduced to £45 but feels like profiteering for the sake of it.
