Lovely weekend break in a lovely hotel.
The staff were very pleasant and efficient, room was spacious, comfortable, homely and clean.
Everything we needed was provided in the room.
We had breakfast for which we booked a slot the day before. We were 10 minutes late and there was no space for us in the main dining area but we were seated in a side room opening onto the main area, which we didn’t mind at all as it was pleasant
. All in all a lovely stay, we would definitely return
Lovely hotel really close to the city centre. The room was a good size and didn’t have any shared walls so it felt private and tucked away. It was well presented with gorgeous decor and a very comfy bed. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this hotel again. My only comment about improvements would be that the cleaning in the room seemed a bit rushed and one of the robes had a big foundation mark on it from a previous guest which was a bit off-putting.
We booked in for breakfast which had a good selection of cooked options. Everything we ate was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the hotel.
Great location with easy 5 minute walk into centre of York. Parking at the hotel is a plus too.
Room a little on the small side but fine for a 2 night stay. Had breakfast one morning in the hotel and was very nice.
Overall a good choice based on location.
The hotel grounds were beautiful and very well decorated for Christmas. It was in a great location as well, 5 minute walk to the city centre. However our room was fairly average and a bit dated. The cleanliness was also lacking. Needed a good hoover before we arrived with bits and fluff everywhere. The back of the toilet was also rather grim. Don't think I'll be staying here again.
Disappointed after high expectations. With experience in managing and staying in hotels, I understand how room advertising works, but this was clear false advertising. The room we were given was nothing like what was advertised by room type, description and image (or receipt!) and staff attributed the mismatch to a "marketing error". Attempts to resolve the issue were minimal. The room itself was dirty—dark fibers on pillows, hair in the shower, and false eyelash extensions on the bed. The mugs were chipped, though thankfully noticed before use. While the rest of the hotel and gardens looked fantastic, the room experience fell far short.

Just ok, was put in a non refurbished room which was disappointing as it looks nothing like the photos on hotels.com so I feel a little mis-sold to be honest as it was really run down, chipped furniture, no chair for the little table, a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom. It felt very used and is in a very desperate need of a refurb. We asked for a twin but was given a king bed. Yes you get an eye mask and pillow spray but only one?? There was a little fridge on the dressing table with water and milk but these are not replenished for a two night stay, nor were the coffee/tea. The white company shower gel had clearly been watered down. Yes there is a pillow menu but honestly it seems misplaced when everything else was off par. We said to one of the receptionist that we’re were a little unhappy but she simple said she’d make a note of it, there was no offer of rectifying this. The receptionist on check nearly spoke or even asked if we had a nice stay, all very odd. Would I return, probably not but great location for York.
A comfortable hotel with a good restaurant, but expensuve for the size of room. Also let down by the failure of the receotion staff to ensure an electrical fault in my room was fixed when reported.
Comfortable friendly hotel, within a short walk of the historic city centre. Room Heating took a while to cope with the sudden cold snap but improved eventually. We had to cut-short our stay at very short notice due to a family incident, the management very kindly waived cancellation fee. We'll definitely return to Middletons Hotel.
Amazing hotel worth every penny, great central location and best hotel I have stayed in York. Room was huge had corner sofa and lots of nice touches including robes, proper mugs, ear plugs, eye mask, bottled water and a huge king size bed.
Excellent service by the staff and breakfast was beautiful full English or can order off the menu very healthy no fat at all.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
On our arrival there was milk and water in the fridge to make tea or coffee.
But when the room was cleaned the next day, the bottle of milk was removed and the water was not replenished. So how were we supposed to make tea and coffee?
When the room was serviced the bathroom floor was not clearly not swept and dirty glasses were not removed.
Stayed only one night… would have been very happy to stay longer. Very decent double bedroom with very large bathroom. All the usual facilities. First class breakfast. Would recommend arriving early if you want to be sure of car parking space. Within walking distance of city centre and attractions. Highly recommend and would happily stay here again.
