Great B&B. Cosy room, excellent breakfast and welcoming pub downstairs. Would stay again but I’d book independently as YOU, HOTELS.COM did not pass on my payment to the Bootham and YOU told the Bootham I was 2 persons and needed to be charged double for breakfasts! I had to prove I’d paid for my stay when I arrived which made me feel very uncomfortable and I hold YOU, HOTELS.COM entirely responsible and in no way am I annoyed with the Bootham B&B. They were brilliant at resolving the mix up which was 100% caused by YOU, HOTELS.COM. It’s put me off booking with YOU ever again.
Again another lovely stay at the bootham tavern. The staff are very welcoming and pleasant. The rooms are lovely and warm and cosy. Ready to book again for next year.

Good base for seeing York
Great location, everything you need in the room (water, kettle, plenty of tea and milk)
Good base for seeing York.
A lovely tavern with good music and a cheerful atmosphere. The room was a good size and nicely decorated.
The staff were friendly and the breakfast delicious.
We've been to York a few times to stay over and this is now our favorite. Will definitely be back!

I loved how easy it was to find and close to where I had my meetings. Also the staff was super nice and the room, for a night’s stay was decent and well kept.

The room was fine, but the live music was so loud that the floors were vibrating beneath my feet when two floors up. Thankfully it stopped by midnight, but it was still disruptive. It also would’ve been nice if they could hold luggage for a bit after checkout instead of having to pay extra to store it somewhere down the street.
Great location, not too far from the train station and central to the city centre. Excellent live band on the Friday night and to top it all, a superb breakfast!

Great and friendly service. I was able to check in early. Room was small but clean and well appointed. It is an old building so access is narrow and a bit tricky but was fine for me. Overall was fine for me for one night.
We originally had a deluxe double however on check in realised it didn't have a shower, was a bit misleading on the hotel pages as it says 'bath or shower' so could have been a bit clearer. However we spoke to the staff and they swapped our room so it turned out fine :)
The hotel is in a lovely location, very short walk to the centre so nice and peaceful
Brilliant location, near major attractions and transport options. The hotel room was lovely but a bit of a climb up the stairs! Friendly staff and great facilities
The housekeeping was none existent, spider webs in the room very narrow stairs to rooms with a maze of doors. Very noisey hearing people leaving as well as noise form the pub and band.
Very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. The English breakfasts were well-cooked, served with a smile and piping hot. It felt like stepping back in time and very traditionally 'British'. I'm so glad I stayed in an everyday and friendly pub rather than an upmarket and modern hotel.
I called in around 10.30am on the day of my stay to see if I could leave my bags but the room was ready and I was allowed an early check-in. This was great as it left the whole day to head out. Nice, warm welcome from friendly staff.
My room was at the top and back of the pub, so it was quiet. The room had everything you'd need and was a good size and decorated in a lovely wall covering showing St Mary's Abbey (also the name of the room) My second visit here in two months and it's safe to say that I'll be back again.
