Assisi represents an ensemble of masterpieces of human creative genius such as the Basilica of St. Francis, a fundamental reference for art history in the world. The diffusion of the artistic and spiritual message of the Franciscan Order has significantly contributed to the development of art and architecture in the world. Assisi is a unique example of continuity of a city sanctuary in its natural environment from its medieval origins to the present day, represented by the cultural landscape,the religious ensembles, and the traditional land use.The Basilica of St. Clare of Assisi, contains precious frescos dating back to the period from the XII to the XIV century. In the chapel on the right, you can admire the Crucifix which, would have invited St. Francesco in the church of St. Damiano in order to “reset up the Church”.In the crypt we have preserved the land remains of St. Clare of Assisi and some relics particularly well preserved.
