Overview

We visit the less touristy hoods around the Jean-Market on our food tour. From a single mom-no-pop shop we learn about our Latino community and sit down at a Salvadoran neighbourhood joint where locals go. We learn about the different communities that make up the area and pop into Little Italy for an iconic bakery when open.

The Jean-Talon market is the largest of its kind in the country. We try goat cheeses that are so farm to table they remind us of that scene from Portlandia. We visit a spice den, point out other great vendors, try some of the best charcuteries in the province as well as a few surprises like a forager and more depending on the season! You’ll want to go back to the market after the tour.

In Little Italy we explore the streets and area, sip third wave joe and learn about our progressive coffee scene. We head to a bean to bar award winning chocolate “factory” that will showcase some of the best stuff Montréal has to offer, period.

This was a very extensive food tour. We tried so many different items. Loved the beautiful market area and learning about the Latin influences. Renaldo? (I think) was able to call a taxi for us at the end, as well. Recommend this tour!

My husband and I were looking for things to do while planning a recent trip to Montreal and found this tour through Viator. We wanted to go to Jean Talon Market anyway, and we love food tours, so we thought this would be the best of both worlds and it absolutely was. Our guide, Chris, was funny, engaging, and had so much information to share and was incredibly knowledgeable about the food culture and history of the areas we toured. The variety of food was a perfect balance of sweet and savory offerings and the length of time was great. I've done food tours before where I was so miserable by the end because of too much food and not enough walking, but I was comfortably full at the end of this one. The stops were well paced and we covered a lot of ground in 3 hours. I would highly recommend this tour for those willing to taste their way around Jean Talon and the surrounding area.

The time on this tour just flew by. Richardo was so in formative and friendly. He created a lovely group atmosphere. We expected the mainstream popular foods that tourists associate with Montreal but he took us to where the locals eat. Be hungry before you start as there is so much food on the tour. We learned so much about new food stuffs. Highly recommend.
