Your adventure starts at 0900 hrs at the Kithulgala adventure sports centre. Kithulgala lies on the banks of the Kelani River at a
point where it shallow but flows quite fast, creating rapids. These have allowed for many types of adventure and water sports.Canyoning is one of them.
Cannoning involves traversing descents using various methods; such as hiking, rappelling, abseiling, climbing and technical jumps.
Canyoning in waterfalls is often preferred as the cushioning of water reduces the risk of getting hurt. You will be taking a 2km hike to the location, where you will be doing the canyoning.
The rain forest in Kithulgala is deep, dense and green; and very beautiful. You may get to glimpses of the wildlife while passing by.
Once you get there you will start your activities.
The equipment such as safety jackets, rope and etc will be provided. You will also have instructors and a support crew accompanying you; who will be able to assist you with the basics and guide you during the activities. You will be able to try sliding over slightly sloping, wet and smooth
rock surfaces; which function as natural watersides. You will also be able to try cliff jumping with proper safety in place. This will
help you boost your confidence.
But the most exciting activity of them is the waterfall rappelling. The sport involves ropes threaded through carabiners andattached to your waist. You will descend the waterfall with the assistance of rope, while controlling your speed of descent. After taking part in these activities, you will hike back to the adventure sports centre. The tour will be completed by 1230 hrs; and you can choose to have lunch (at your own expense) at the
center's restaurant.
