On this full-day Cappadocia Red Tour, explore the various, amazing rock formations in Cappadocia and enjoy a visit to the famous Göreme Open Air Museum.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 9:30 AM. Start the day visiting Devrent Valley and admire the lunar landscape of Cappadocia. Also known as “Imagination Valley,” look out for the various animal shapes that can be seen in the rock formations like camels, dolphins, and snakes. Then, explore Pasabag and listen to the “song of fairies” when the wind meets the “fairy chimneys.”
Then proceed to Avanos for lunch and a pottery demonstration. The Red River runs along the small town of Avanos, providing it a large supply of red clay, and making the town the pottery centre of Cappadocia. Enjoy a traditional pottery demonstration using the red clay that has been central to the terra cotta work of arts in Avanos since 3000 BC.
Following Avanos, depart for the famous Göreme Open Air Museum. Admire the best examples of Byzantine art and rock-cut churches with beautiful frescoes dating back from the 10th century to the 13th century. Continue to panoramic viewpoint Esentepe. See the complete view of Göreme valley and Göreme village from the fairy chimneys to various rock formations and cave houses. To wrap up the day, visit Uchisar Castle, the highest point in Cappadocia with a magnificent view of Mount Erciyes in the distance. Return to your hotel at around 5:30 PM.
