We had a fabulous day with Letizia and her family in Ortigia. She met us in the market where she took us on a shopping trip. There she showed us some of the local delicacies and how the many cultures that have been to Sicily in the past, influence its cuisine today. We then went to her lovely home where we picked fresh herbs, and vegetables from her large garden. And then the cooking and eating began! We were given a sample of local cheeses, some made by her father, as well as pistachios and olives. And of course, some Prosecco! She then instructed us in how to prepare a Sicilian feast, including making fresh pasta, bruschetta and calamari. It was all delicious! We enjoyed it with a few crisp glasses of wine, followed by homemade strawberry gelato. If you enjoy cooking and want to understand more about Sicilian history, culture, and cuisine, we would highly recommend this tour. We had a great time and it is definitely one of the highlights of our visit to the beautiful island of Sicily.

It was a fabulous day. We shopped at the Ortigia market for the ingredients for lunch and learned about the local produce and fish. Then we went to Guiseppe’s family home for a wonderful cooking experience. We had a fun time with two other couples learning to make pasta and caponata among other dishes. Would highly recommend.

This was the highlight of our trip! After shopping the market for fresh ingredients we were taken back to our guide's home to prepare an amazing meal! We all got to participate in making fresh pasta, stuffed mussels, bruschetta.... We even got to pick fresh herbs and peppers from our host's garden! Everything was so fresh and delicious and our host could not have been more welcoming. Loved every minute of this experience!

Giuseppe was a great host. We started out in the Ortigia market picking up the items that would be our incredible lunch. He was sharing information about the market and the many vendors. After getting all of the items we drove to the home and began preparing lunch. We all had a role and had a lot of fun slicing, dicing and cooking. When everything was ready we sat in the dining area with a bottle of white wine and ate the most delicious meal. I would highly recommend that everyone take this tour!
