The Calgary classic “The King Eddie” still remains a YYC icon, since 1905. It's the cornerstone of music, community, and culture, building on its storied musical legacy.

The dynamic, triple-glazed facade is composed of a modular, hexagonal pattern that expresses the library's aims to provide a space that invites in all visitors.
St. Patrick's Island
  • 30m
One of Calgary’s oldest parks, the development of St. Patrick’s Island as a public space began in the late 1890s and gained momentum with the construction of a bridge to the island in the early 1900s. More than a century later, this all-but-forgotten treasure at the city’s centre has re-emerged as an amenity-rich, family-friendly—and National Urban Design Award-winning park. We can check out the beach in the summer months, a restored channel where we can wade into the water and venture safely out onto a gravel bar. Or just enjoy the views! Also, we will seee Lowland Channel – a seasonal riparian wetland at the heart of the island, with an elevated boardwalk for no-impact access to the wetland and the Gallery Forest, an important habitat for nesting eagles, owls and songbirds. We will also identify some plants and tress the first nations would have used as tea, and medicines.

Will will stop at the "famous 5" the infamous statues of the suffragettes that won women the right to vote, not so very long ago!
Stephen Avenue Walk
  • 15m
The Bank and Baron P.U.B. is Located on Calgary’s Stephen Ave. It is a beauty! Named after George Stephen, 1st Baron Mount Stephen, the first president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Stephen Avenue contains a high concentration of registered historic buildings and the street itself was declared a Canadian historic site in 2002. My mum worked here when it was a bank in the 1960's and bought her wedding dress in the shop across the street1

The four-storey Library cost CA$245 million to construct. It is truly an architectural masterpiece and we will explore! Their design features an oval-like form and an interior with a large central atrium with a skylight. The building is elevated one floor above street level to accommodate a light rail trackway below, as well as a public plaza. The entire building is oval-shaped and is elevated one floor above street level to cover a CTrain light rail tunnel and an open plaza, included with the intention of connecting Calgary's East Village to City centre. The entrance is framed by wood-clad arches inspired by the shape of arched clouds made by Chinook winds in Alberta. You will be mesmerised I promise!
