What you can expect

Venture just 90 minutes outside of Puerto Vallarta for an expertly guided tour of the quaint San Sebastian town. Nestled in the Sierra Madre Mountains at 3,000 feet (915 m) above sea level, this tour showcases Mexico's lush mountain scenery, rich history, and abundance of natural resources.

Away from the popular tourist destinations of Puerto Vallarta sits a town untouched by time, complete with a cobblestone court, classic white buildings, and an 18th-century church. As you walk through the San Sebastian's streets, hear stories of the original 1605 settlers and transport back to the booming gold and silver mining town of the 1800s.

A hillside restaurant with sweeping views welcomes you for a delightful Jaliscan lunch. Menu items include (subject to change): fajitas with barbecue chicken or beef, handmade corn tortillas, quesadillas, spicy salsa, and chips.

Top off your meal with a few samples at the agave tequila distillery. Knowledgeable guides illustrate why this ancient Mexican village is now known for coffee and agave cultivation from its verdant mountainsides. Next, explore the local coffee plantation, Café de Altura, and meet a 5th-generation coffee grower and roaster. Taste traditional Mexican coffee and learn about San Sebastian's unique farm-to-table harvesting process.
