Your day begins with a drive through the rich countryside of Kangaroo Island as you travel to Cape Willoughby Conservation Park. Enjoy the views of local bushlands and beaches as you are afforded the opportunity to learn about the areas amazing maritime history and tough living conditions of the early settlers.
Once you enter Cape Willoughby Conservation Park you will get the chance to visit South Australia’s first lighthouse. Take the time to soak up the amazing coastal views, get out a camera for a photo-op or, if available, book on for an optional tour of the lighthouse itself. There is a lot to learn and explore on the Cape, including its role in coastal shipping, colonial trading and passenger transport during early European settlement.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for those Kangaroos! The Cape is home to several mobs of this iconic Australian Kangaroo who are often seen lazing around, feeding or interacting in large numbers throughout these areas. Your guide will keep an eagle eye out for these cute locals, but we bet you’ll spot them almost before we do!*
Next you’ll further your exploration of the Cape with a scenic drive through Antechamber Bay and Chapman River, taking note of the varied landscapes that exist on the island and getting a glimpse of local island life.
After getting in some great views and history its onto your wine tasting! You'll get to sit and relax and try some delightful local wines as you learn about the local wineries that Kangaroo Island hosts.
Lastly, arriving back at Penneshaw you’ll stop at a lookout for some great views of this small island town and the sweeping landscape that surrounds it.
