What you can expect

Indulge your spirit of adventure on an early morning hike to Bali's highest point, and ascend Mount Agung to watch the sunrise from the top. Experience the most challenging, yet most beautiful trek on the island.

Start the night before with a hotel pick-up between 23:00 and 00:00 (depending on the location of your accommodation). Then, journey to Pasar Agung Temple near Selat to start your hike at 01:45. Located in the Karangasem Regency, Mount Agung is Bali's highest and holiest mountain. Be guided through the jungle of the sacred site by an English-speaking local guide.

Believed by the locals to be the home of the gods, Mount Agung reaches an altitude of over 3,000 metres at its highest point. It can be a challenge for some people to climb, but the rewards for the brave - and reasonably fit - are stunning views and a sunrise like none you've ever seen before!

Once at the top, enjoy breakfast and take in the breathtaking views. Cast your eyes over the lush landscape of east Bali as far as the eye can see. Then, climb back down the mountain to return to your starting point.

This is the hike of a lifetime! We had an amazing guide who also taught us a lot about the meaning and the history of the mount Agung and the culture of the region. The hike is so much harder than it seemed to us. We learned that a big percent of people do not reach the top and we too made a decision to stop on the 2600 m stop point. But no regrets , this was the most challenging hike and the most beautiful sunset of our lives

For some reason, we did not go to the Agung peak but a lower. At anytime in the reservation process, it has been mentioned there are several possibilities in the trekking. It's unfair, non commercial because in the customer perception, trekking a mountain is to go the top otherwise should be mentioned differently

The guide and the driver were not talking english so it were almost impossible to have discussion… all the remaining of the activité was excellent.

The Mount Agung trek was an experience to always remember! My driver Andrea and especially my guide Kadek were phenomenal. As most people say it’s quite challenging but the guide makes sure you keep a normal pace, have many (too many?) breaks and keeps you well fed. I was dreading the downhill but because of my guide I never felt like I’d fall and we even had quite a good pace! The sunrise on top was absolutely stunning and the starry sky and views beautiful. Top tip: make sure you confirm the pick up date as despite what the page says (that you should book for the day after the night you want to be picked up) the company was planning to pick me up the day of my booking!

We had a pretty comfortable transport to our tour and back to our hotel. Our driver, Andrea, was really kind and always available. For the tour you should be in a very good physical shape bur the view is worth it!

Transportation a problem …. driver drove me 2 hrs to Nusa Dua from Mt Agung and then put me in a different car with a new driver to go another 1.5hours back up to Ubud instead of dropping me in Ubud on the way to Nusa Dua

The hikes itself was great although quite difficult. Definitely recommend to fit people or advanced hikers. There was one guide with three guests. My fitness level is good I but was not as fit as the guide or the other two guests. I was often left behind in the dark where I could not see the guide and had to make my own way and judge my gut feeling as to which path they had taken ahead of me. It was clear the guide was not very patient with me. I felt like I was bothering him. It took us 4 hours to get up to the top and 4 to get down. The breakfast was average. All they offered was one boiled egg, piece of bread and a banana. I suggest you take your own food. Beside from this, of course reaching the top was unreal and the view from the roof of Bali was spectacular! I definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to challenge themselves!
