What you can expect
Embark on an exhilarating rafting journey guided by local Kiwi experts, where you'll navigate a breathtaking landscape and immerse yourself in the concept of Kaitiakitanga—guardianship and protection of the land. As you wind through steep, lush New Zealand canyons, you'll encounter fourteen rapids and three stunning waterfalls, including the world-famous 7-meter Tutea Falls. Feel the thrill of conquering these natural wonders while a professional adventure photographer captures your best moments along the way.
Your adventure doesn’t stop with rafting. As you explore, your guide will share captivating stories of Mount Tarawera's volcanic eruption and introduce you to the rich tapestry of local myths and legends that shape this unique region. You’ll gain insight into both the history and cultural significance of this awe-inspiring landscape.
The next part of your journey takes you to the base of Mount Tarawera. From there, you’ll embark on an off-road ascent in a rugged 4x4 vehicle, passing through native bushland as you make your way towards the crater. After a brief pause at the solar-powered mountain base, your adventure continues up the mountain to the start of the track.
As you hike towards the summit, take in the spectacular scenic vistas and enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding terrain. When you reach the peak, you’ll have the exhilarating opportunity to descend into the heart of the volcanic crater with a fun, quick run down into this iconic natural formation.
This all-encompassing adventure promises not only heart-pounding excitement but also a deep connection to the land, its history, and the people who call it home. With expert guides, incredible views, and unforgettable stories, this is an experience that will leave you with lasting memories.
