Overview

Depart from your accommodation in Oudtshoorn (after a brief introduction of the Klein Karoo) towards the Swartberg Mountain Pass. Encounter the changes in landscape, fauna and climate. We will travers over a 1500m high mountain, with possible sightings of some rare Klipspringer antelope!

Meiringspoort Waterfall

WE enter the gorge of the Swartberg Mountain range and follow it from north to south. This was the original gateway between the inland Great karoo and the Ocean for trading with the passing ships. We stop in the gorge and walk the 300 metres to a cascading waterfall and rock pool. The brave of heart can have a swim and learn about the mermaid living in this pool!
