Place Massena
  • 15m
Our walking tour of Nice begins in the very heart of the city — Place Masséna. This is where the history and culture of Nice come to life. Your guide will share the fascinating storey of how Nice began and how this remarkable city was born. The centrepiece of the square is the Sun Fountain, located on its southern side, with the majestic statue of Apollo standing proudly at its centre. But there’s more to discover—Place Masséna is adorned with other sculptures and decorative elements that enhance its unique architectural style and create an atmosphere rich in history and culture. Notably, "The Thinkers of Nice," created by artist Jean Fabre, add a distinctive artistic touch to the square. Your guide will take you through these highlights, offering intriguing insights into everything you can find here.
Opera de Nice
  • 15m
As we head towards the flower market at Cours Saleya, we will make a brief stop by the Nice Opera House. In the 19th century, Nice became a winter retreat for European aristocracy, and this magnificent building embodies the spirit of that era. The Opera House was designed by the city architect Brunati in collaboration with Turin architect Perotti. Built in the neoclassical style, the building reflects the strong Italian influence that pervades the architecture of Nice. You will have the opportunity to take beautiful photos with the majestic theatre as your backdrop, and to visit the church of one of the oldest Dominican orders, the Dominican Fathers Convent, founded in 1205, located just across from the opera.
Marche aux Fleurs Cours Saleya
  • 30m
Next, we will immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the Cours Saleya Market. Located in the very heart of Nice’s Old Town, this market is always bustling with life. Striped awnings cover its centre, sheltering the fresh produce and flowers offered daily. Crowds of locals and tourists flock here to shop or simply to admire and photograph the colourful displays. The scents of fresh produce and flowers seem to lift everyone’s spirits, creating a friendly and lively atmosphere. You will have free time to explore the market, and your guide will point out where to visit the famous boutique of the Fragonard perfumery and much more.
Quai des Etats Unis
  • 30m
Promenade des Anglais and Quai Rauba Capeu - Our tour continues as we reach the end of Cours Saleya and step onto the famous Promenade des Anglais, specifically the section known as the Quai des États-Unis. Here, we’ll take a brief stop before heading up to Castle Hill. Located at the base of the hill, Quai Rauba Capeu offers one of the most stunning views of the city. This spot has become iconic, thanks to the giant hashtag "I Love Nice" that now adorns this picturesque corner of the promenade.
Belanda Tower
  • 15m
Tour Bellanda - As we head towards the highest point of the Old Town, our first stop is the historic Tour Bellanda. Originally built for the city's protection, this tower has now become a favoured viewpoint for visitors. Here, you can relax and take in the breathtaking view of the Bay of Angels. To reach the top, you have two options: take the lift at the base of the hill or, for the more adventurous, climb the Lesage staircase. While the ascent is impressive, it is not too difficult and definitely worth the effort.
Castle Hill of Nice
  • 20m
Château de Nice - Our next route from the Bellanda Tower will take us to the highest viewpoint, where you can enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of all of Nice and a significant portion of the French Riviera. Along the way, we will make a brief stop at a stunning waterfall. This picturesque waterfall, surrounded by lush vegetation, is located in the heart of Castle Park and offers breathtaking views of the city of Nice and the Mediterranean Sea. Prepare for magical moments as you immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and the spectacular landscapes.
