During our visit to Athens in early November, booking a Greek cooking class was high on our must-do list, and it did not disappoint! While we had a bit of confusion finding our way into the building and figuring out the elevator, everything worked out, and we arrived on time, ready to cook. The instructors were incredibly welcoming, patient, and thorough in explaining the ingredients and techniques. Their passion for Greek cuisine really shone through, making the class both educational and fun. The atmosphere was lively and friendly, with the other participants adding to the experience. Sitting down together to enjoy the meal we cooked was a highlight—it felt like sharing a family dinner. The Greek salad and tzatziki were absolute standouts, and the freshness of the ingredients made all the difference. The next day, I found myself out in town searching for unique Greek herbs to bring home, inspired by the flavors we experienced. I can’t wait to try recreating the recipes, even though I know they won’t taste quite the same without the magic of Greece! If you enjoy cooking and want an authentic dive into Greek culture and cuisine, this class is a must-try. It’s a perfect mix of learning, fun, and, of course, delicious food!

Don’t be put off by the rather inauspicious street and building entrance. Once you arrive on the 5th floor and are met by cook Marie-Elena (ably supported by Artemis), you will be welcomed into the large bright cooking and dining space with views across to the Acropolis. We were joined by 6 other fun and enthusiastic participants, and set about preparing dolmades, tzatziki, cheese and spinach spanakopita, meatballs in a lemon sauce, Greek salad and baklava, including learning to make our own filo. I must also mention that Marie-Elena adapted to deal with several dietary restrictions in the group, something which none of the other cooking course organisers that I had contacted, had offered to do. Thank you M-E! A fun an alternative way to spend 3 hours in Athens!

Tucked away in the heart of Athens with an Acropolis/Parthenon view is CookinAthens! Marilena and her assistant Artemis treated us to a very special culinary adventure! From start to finish, we and the two other couples got to look, listen and learn all about how to prepare a fabulous Greek meal with fresh ingredients. The menu was varied in texture, colorful, and tasty beyond belief…and way more than we could eat in one sitting. Drinks, including adult beverages, were served with the meal. The setup was spacious, neat, and clean. The instructions were easy to understand, and Marilena was patient, positive and professional. Artemis was the perfect complement, removing and tidying up after each dish was prepared. They worked so well as a team. Once again we were more than thrilled with the quality of a Viator cultural experience.
