What you can expect

Tour the city of Ohrid on the eastern shore of Lake Ohrid in the Republic of Macedonia on a half-day sightseeing tour of the centre of Christianity for Slavs. The 4-hour guided tour takes in all the main sights of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of only a handful inscribed both for their culture and natural landscape.

Walk through the Lower Gate to the Archaeological Museum in the Robev Family House, and tour an exhibition of ancient artefacts, including a statue of the Goddess Isis. Continue to the 11th-century cathedral church of St. Sofia, the Ancient Theatre from the 2nd century BC, and the beautiful icons at the church of St. Mary Perivleptos.

Get fantastic views of Ohrid Lake from the medieval walls of Samuil Fortress. Descend to Plaosnik at the crossroads of civilisations on Ohrid Hill. Visit the burial place of St. Kliment, and the newly reconstructed church of St. Pantelejmon. End at the church of St. Jovan Kaneo, one of Ohrid’s landmarks, before visiting the fisherman’s settlement of Kaneo for a boat trip on the lake.

I had a solo tour, my guide was Naumka. She was absolutely amazing! I was extremely lucky to have her as my guide, as she is from Ohrid. Her enthusiasm and love for the area showed and made this an enriching experience for me. The level of detail and explanations Naumka shared were wonderful. This UNESCO city and lake are a must see if you go to Macedonia. Hope you get a guide like Naumka

: Pasko is a friendly guy, but can't stop talking. After 4 hours - by the way, we think that 2, maybe 3 would be more than enough to see highlights of Ohrid - we were exhausted…sometimes difficult to understand, listening non stop to a million of stories, is too much. We also had to listen at least 20 times to 'promotion' of the shops we passed by. Pasko is trying to do his best, was helping in carrying things, picked us up from hotel, but for us it was just too much.

: We couldn't have gotten a better guide than Pasco. Not only does it deserve 5 stars, it deserves double. I've traveled a lot, but this city tour was by far the best I've ever experienced. Pasco is a tour guide with heart and soul. He has a lot of knowledge and is happy to pass it on. He was able to answer every question and also has a lot of insider tips in stock. Time flew by.

This was an excellent tour and a great way to learn about Ohrid. My guide (Naumka) was born and raised in the town. She knew the history, background, and modern context of the sites we visited. Her English was excellent and her enthusiasm even more so. It is wonderful to spend time with someone who knows an area so well and loves sharing that information. She is very proud of Ohrid and is both professional and enthusiastic about helping visitors see and understand details that would otherwise be overlooked.
