A really lovely hotel and a very lovely room too. Main issue was that my partner is vegan and I have a dairy allergy and the vegan options at breakfast were pretty much non-existent. Staff were lovely though and I will definitely be back
This was our second stay here. The hotel has a very scenic and peaceful location whilst being easily reached on good roads. There is plenty to do nearby if you want it but we go for the views and to walk by the Solway Firth. The hotel is well run and the staff are friendly and helpful. Special mention for Lisa from the restaurant who recognised us from our previous visit - which was years ago! Impressive. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and was delicious. Dinner was excellent and a good variety to choose from. We didn't manage a sweet but heard them praised by other diners. Proper coffee machine in the room too (I don't drink instant). Decent size tv but we couldn't get many channels as signal seemed weak but that's a minor quibble. All being well we will be back!
Have stayed here a number of times over the last few years, this is by far the best hotel in the area, I’ve stayed in a few but this is number 1 by far. the views from this place are absolutely brilliant, what a fantastic place. Special mention to all the staff as the service is fantastic, always has been.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when it came to providing a second chair in our room for two.
The restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced.
Our main gripe was the dreadful condition of the patio table and one chair that had been provided for outdoor seating for a room for two. The table and chair looked as though they had been rescued from a rubbish tip. They were in a disgusting state and it was an insult to think that anyone would want to sit there.
Also, being in the annex, which looked like converted stables, there was an outdoor light shining all night and no curtain for the door that had a window in it. This was also a problem in the morning when the sun was up at 4:30 and the light was coming through the glass in the door. I did not have a very good night’s sleep.
Such a peaceful location. Great for walking. The hotel itself is in excellent condition. My room had a great sea view and the decor was modern, clean and sympathetic.
I had dinner in the hotel and there was a varied choice using locally sourced ingredients. The breakfast was also locally sourced and prepared to order.
Just one gripe.. the shower. It took forever for the hot water to come through and the rain head wasn't working. The water pressure was not strong either but i guess that's not an easy thing to solve.
Other than that, i enjoyed a restful stop off on my way up the West Coast
Lovely, comfortable room. Well heated and spotless. If I’m being picky I would have liked a full length mirror.
Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Was there for a family meal and the food was delicious. Great choice and everything was piping hot.
