Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The property in very nice but not properly laid out. The staffs service is excellent.
We had a lovely 5-day Christmas getaway at Buvi Lodge. The staff was kind, the place was clean, and the rooms were beautiful. Food was reasonably priced and yummy. We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere so much.
The only negative was that because of the solar power, we couldn’t get a hot bath unless the sun was shining (I was really looking forward to hot baths, but did enjoy only one). Also, upon checkout, there was some confusion around our receipt that took some time to sort out. Next time we may pay by the day to save time at the end.
Just a heads up for anyone going on the holidays — Christmas Day was crowded, as the lodge serves a Christmas buffet for lunch and dinner and there were many extra people around in the pool and restaurant.
Despite the few small negatives, we would definitely go back again!
It's a very nice lodge with good service and a talented cook. But it's to isolated for a long term stay. They also should provide more comfortable furniture. But overall a nice place for a few days.
I liked the view and the set up of the rooms. It was a bit of a drive of a drive off the main road to get there but it was worth it for the view. I wasn’t pleased with how much loud music I had to endure though, I went for a quiet weekend away from town and left feeling less relaxed than I expected to.
Poor food...very slow when waiting for food...could be more than an hour. From Kampala more than one hour with taxi which also makes it expensive. Just 4 sunbeds at the pool without any umbrella for shade.
The best thing is the scenic view of the lake and tranquility
If you like bird watching and going for a walk in a pristine nature, then it is probably the best place within a short distance from Entebbe airport. The easiest way to get to Buvi Lodge is by boat from Entebbe. Ask the hotel to send a boat to pick you up at the harbour, where the ferry goes to Nakiwogo. The resort is very isolated, but you do not have to worry about being ripped for money in the restaurant. I paid 10 US$ for a big pepper steak with fries and a pint of beer. The food is tasty and the staff is friendly and competent. The views from the room and the restaurant is incredible. The architecture is a successful combination of traditional Uganda style and modern Western. I did not get any mosquito bites during the three weeks I stayed, because I went to bed, when the night fell over the resort. I highly recommend the place.
