Wash your own dishes or be fined
Nice clean motel, but I was surprised by the sign on the wall saying you must wash, dry and put all your dishes back in the cupboard otherwise you will be fined $25. Other motels have told me not to bother washing dishes as they need to rewash them anyway for hygiene reasons. How do we know previous guests have been hygienic? For $265 a night it seems very expensive if you don’t offer cleaning services!

We stayed here one night when we were on our way to drive further down the south island. The staff heated our room with the heater prior to our arrival. When we checked in, the room feels cozy and warm compared to the cold weather outside. The room has a kitchen equipped with portable electric stoves, plates, and cooking utensils etc. The bathroom also has bathtub with spa/jet. We tried using the spa and they are amazing! The property is within walking distance (2-3 minutes) of restaurants and activity options. We almost got stuck in Franz Josef due to floods and road closure. The staff was quite understanding, when we discussed we may stay longer than our initial booking.
