We have stayed at many Gatlinburg hotels, including the big expensive ones. This one provided the most comfortable stay yet. The bed was super comfortable, the fireplace was nice and warm and place is clean and well maintained. Can’t wait to go back!

This hotel is horrible. We realize it's an older hotel, but it was filthy. Our room didn't look like it had been vacuumed or the floors mopped. The rug under the bed was horribly filthy. So glad my husband and I took our slippers!! The nicest thing about the entire room was the shower itself and having a fireplace was nice. The bed was fairly decent but I found big one, but 2 rather large spiders crawling up my side of the bedding.... needless to say, I didn't sleep well after that. We won't be staying there again. The only real plus is the proximity to everything and anything you'd want to do in Gatlinburg

We booked the property based on all of the 5 star reviews and I'd say we were disappointed in our stay. The property is an older property that has been renovated to some degree but still has areas that need to be addressed in order to receive 5 stars IMO. The doors to the rooms open from the outdoors. I mention this as I know some have security concerns when staying in places like this. The bathtub in our room ran constantly - so much that orange rust has formed around the tub drain. The toilet also ran and we had to fill the tank with water daily for it to flush. The rug in the room needed a good steam clean and the microwave and mini fridge were mismatched colors. The room is dark even with lamps on and curtains back. The walls are super thin - so much that I heard the people in the room next door zip their luggage and full conversations/disagreements. The door to the balcony locks with an old school push button lock doorknob, which didn't feel all that safe. And, the people staying 3 doors down called the police on Saturday night when they thought someone was breaking into their room, but the hotel says it might have been a bear. Maybe this is 5 star worthy for some, but for us, it was a far cry. The location is its saving grace, and the staff seemed nice, but I thought a truthful review with better perspective was needed for those considering the stay here so people could make the best decision when booking. Not on par for where we typically stay.

door between balconies is a bedroom door that locks (but mine did not). at 3:00 am mine was forced open by a bear or the wind or neighbor nobodies knows. this was the exclamation i got. One thing I do know is I won’t be back. Management was rude and just kept taking when i was trying to tell her what happened. I had to follow up to see what happened with no still resolution. stay somewhere else or be sure ask for a room that locks on ur balcony or you may get a surprise at 3am

Although the property was older property, it has been remodeled. We stayed in one of the King rooms with fireplace. It was cozy and quaint. Staff was helpful and friendly. We will be back.

We liked how convenient it was to downtown. We did not love the condition of the room. It gave the feeling of dorm room. There were no headboards, desk chair and guest chair had seen better days. I didn’t love the situation with the door to the patio, didn’t feel super safe.

This motel is tucked away from all the traffic, but easy to walk to everything in downtown Gatlinburg. The rooms were renovated sometime and so cute, spacious, and clean. There was nothing I didn’t like. I will definitely go back in the future!

Very nice location. Relatively clean room, it wasn’t spotless but was mostly clean. Very cozy. The faucet in the bathtub wouldn’t stop dripping, but that’s not a big deal. Otherwise, the only issue was running out of toilet paper because there was no extra roll and the one provided was half used. However, restocking of towels and toiletries was available. Would definitely stay again

First time staying at the River Edge Inn, Would definitely consider this property again on our next Gatlinburg stay. River Edge Inn is a great mix of older/classic Gatlinburg hotel but rooms are very well updated. Experience is based on a visit Sunday - Thursday in early December. Pros - Off the main Parkway so it’s quiet but still close enough for easy walkable access to anything in Gatlinburg. - Rooms are nice, updated and very well maintained despite being an older property. - Easy on-site parking. - I like the way they do housekeeping. Hang cards are provided where you check off what items you need and what time you want items to be delivered (or can pick up in the office). Items to note (can’t consider them cons) - Breakfast is grab and go muffins, cereal, juice/milk, etc. They are very open on this so wasn’t a surprise. If you want a hot breakfast, we got to enjoy Crockett’s and Flapjacks (twice) for breakfast, highly recommend both. - Office isn’t staffed 24/7 so they have processes and procedures if you need to check in off hours or need to contact the property in an emergency. We checked in during normal business and there was no need for any emergency contact so can’t speak to that, but they do send out a message if you expect to check in outside of normal business hours.

Thanksgiving getaway
Lots of space in an excellent location close to the river. Comfortable beds and clean linens. We had a small dog and this was a good option for that situation. Somewhat dated fixtures. Fridge was a bonus but the Keurig did not work correctly. You have to order your replacement towels and other items for either delivery within a certain time or for pick up at the front desk. Not exactly convenient.

Thanksgiving in the heart of Gatlinburg
The room was great. Very Clean and comfortable. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The view of the skybridge and mountain side was perfect from our balcony. The location was perfect and with an entrance off River Road much easier to get in and out of Gatlinburg when traffic was heavy. We will certainly stay again. My only complaints are that the bed was very noisy anytime you moved and you couldnt shower without water getting everywhere, but those are minor and easily fixable, put a shower curtain in the shower and maybe a rug under the bed. Possibly set up the smart tvs with netflix and hulu or prime so guests can easily login. All in all it was a great trip and a wonderful stay.

It was rather expensive for the room. It had a squeaky bed and no bolt lock. It had a different picture on the hotels.com website. I would have never paid that much for that room other wise. The lady at the front desk was very nice.
