"Loved the foot bath and the rooftop private bath. The breakfasts were excellent. The Old Town area was very walkable. The hotel was right next to the train station. It seemed about half the hotel guests were non-Japanese, which made sense. The staff was very helpful and spoke a variety of languages."

This place specializes in hot spring baths, which are the main attraction. Most everything else will require a car to get around for."

"We loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui. The view of the mountains around the hotel were amazing with tri-colored foliage. The staff were also very lovely and kind. The food was also delicious and more than I had expected. Communication wasn't too easy, but the message would get across. The best part was, of course, the onsen (hot spring) experience. They offer both public (gender-separated) hot springs and baths, as well as 4 private ones that don't need prior booking or extra fees. Getting there and back took a lot of time though, so our 1-day trip seemed a bit too short."
