The place was great… awesome location close to everything. Resort was so clean even the pools and floors… the food was amazing at the restaraunt and pool bar server was great. Front desk was very helpful

Everything was great. Staff was excellent. My only regret is that I never found out that there was an outdoor gym. It was on the map. It would’ve been helpful to get an orientation around the grounds. We were told about the thermal springs and the pool and the restaurant. Had no idea there was an outdoor gym.

The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was very good, but the service is a little bit slow so take that into consideration for timing. We booked all our excursions through the hotel and they were all wonderful and as advertised. The location of the hotel is Central for all the excursions. Nothing was more than 25 minutes away. The breakfast included fresh omelettes, Belgian waffles and a wide variety of other options. Consistently good. I would recommend this hotel. Thank you to the staff at the Volcano Lodge for helping make our Costa Rica vacation wonderful.

The staff in this property were very friendly and very nice. And the restaurant was excellent. as where the thermal pools and the swimming pool.. overall the property is good. However, we found the room to be really small and very dated. And the bathroom to be very ordinary. also for the first time, we had a very strange experience where we were told, and there was a sign inside the bathroom that said this, that we should not put the toilet paper into the toilet but into the dustbin next to the toilet. That was really odd…Apart from that, we had a really nice time at the hotel.

The property is too old. The room is too small. Bathroom is old and dirty. Smell. We stayed 4 nights and after 2nd day no one came to cleaning our room or gave us new towels. It's not worth the money. Do not stay here. 2** rated

The Hot Springs were absolutely incredible. Way better than a lot of the other hotels in the area. For that alone, it’s definitely worth it and would recommend. Main reason for the three star over a four star is that there was no hot water, it lasted less than a few minutes for a shower. I have never stayed at a hotel that runs out of hot water in just a few minutes. Luckily it’s Costa Rica so the cold water is not that bad, but nevertheless not super acceptable. Additionally, the room was super dated and the bathroom did not have any ventilation just windows. AC did not get very cold either.

We stayed here about 9 years ago and chose to stay again. Our room was the type that has a 'backyard' with our own hot spring (think jacuzzi with a water fall feature, surrounded by plants and flowers, and heated by a volcano). The thermal forest and hot springs near the main pool were also amazing and a nice option between La Fortuna adventures, or when the rain forest is 'doing it's job' (aka raining). The hotel has also added a large covered area with sofas and comfy chairs and tables to allow for protection from the rain, but still to be outside and with views of the trees and plants.

The property grounds were beautifully kept and make for a nice stay. The thermal spa area and pools were great for the family after a long day of hiking the area. The breakfast provided was excellent and the staff was all very helpful and nice. The rooms are very basic and out dated, but when you're in the area, the rooms are not that important. Beds were comfortable and showers were hot. Also a short drive to area hoghlughts and La Fortuna.

The staff seem to be genuinely kind and caring people, from the front desk to the landscape staff and everyone in between. Can’t say enough about the property. The staff was helpful with scheduling activities, and no fault of theirs that the activity wasn’t as advertised. We rode horseback to the waterfall meaning we rode horses up one side of a mountain and had to walk down to the waterfall and back up, was told it was 400 steps and it was literally 9000, straight down and back up.

What an amazing experience from start to finish. We were a tad skeptic when we booked but the service and the rooms were amazing. Best breakfast you will have while down here guaranteed. They cook fresh omelettes and the food is fantastic. We don’t usually like all the food from hotels here but this one is in a class of its own
