This was a very unique hotel. It was clean, staff was very helpful. It is an old hotel so some of the plugs for phone chargers weren't usable. I would stay here again.

I LOVE this ship. I booked my room here simply because I needed a hotel in the Long Beach area, and the Queen Mary was far more affordable than hotels on the other side of the bay. After arriving, though, I found I loved the ship, and spent most of my time exploring via the various tours. The Queen Mary, while originally just my hotel accommodations, turned into my favorite part of the trip.

The price is high. That was ok when i thought id get to see cool parts of the ship included in that price. However, not the case. Tour areas are closed during most of the time you would be checked in for a one night stay. 30$ is a pretty intense parking fee. Biggest downfall, dark harbor was going on and the haunted mazes that run through the bottom of the ship were so loud, we could hear the music, conversations, and SCREAMS, as if they were in the room. Until 1 am, on a Tuesday. Not cool. Beds arent comfortable, and we had to sleep upside down due to the floor being uneven(its a boat, ok...but on top of everything else...that price tag seems so high when i walked away with such an awful nights sleep)If i were to return to the queen Mary, it certainly wouldnt be to stay as a hotel guest. A day guest to see the tour parts of the ship only. The nostalgia ia great, The staff was nice.

The hotel was clean but in need of updating and cosmetic repairs. Also, we werent aware there would be an event going on outside our room ( portside of ship)that went on all night. It would've been nice and respectable for the hotel to have given us a room on the starboard side of the ship.

The Always Elegant Queen Mary is Long Beach's Best
When staying in Long Beach, the first choice is always the Queen Mary. It has made a remarkable recovery from the Covid and former operator days. There is no more elegant place for a drink than the Observation Bar. The rooms are spacious for a 1930's historical ship and amenities have been modernized to the extent possible. Why stay in a generic modern hotel when the Queen is available?

Getting to the ship was chaotic, due to a carnival in the parking lot — but we got there, with the help of a bellman who carried my octogenarian mother, my niece and her two preschool aged children in a golf cart, with most of our luggage. My son and I wheeled our largest bags as we walked behind the gold cart. We retrieved all our bags, went up the elevator to check in. Though I’d booked 2 rooms, one was put in my niece’s name (I don’t know why), so we had difficulty at check in because only one room could be located. Once the problem was identified and rooms assigned, we made our trek to the furthest end of the ship. We were not offered bell service and I did not know they had an on-ship bellman until the following morning! This walk was DIFFICULT for my mom who requires oxygen! We learned that the staterooms did not have individual temperature controls at check in. We were advised we could call for blankets, if cold, or a fan, if hot! It was COLD! Though the rooms had 4 sets of outlets, including one in the bathroom, ONLY ONE worked in each room! I unplugged our tv and satellite box to charge our phones. Neither outlet was able to power mom’s oxygen machine, so she did without it for the night! She was EXHAUSTED the following morning! I did secure a bellman to move our luggage and transport to the cruise terminal in the morning. My niece and son followed with the largest bags. I would NEVER recommend the ship as a hotel, but for its proximity to the cruise port!

Not a good experience
The noise in our room was unbearable starting at 5 pm. We knew there would be some noise, but for $388 a night, that was not good. We had to beg to trade rooms. Very poor customer service. They lied about being sold out. Eventually they moved us after my husband showed them we could still book a room online. We likely wont stay again. We often cruise, and use the QM as our jumping off point. No more.
