Now you've found your perfect vacation spot...Formerly known as “The Turtle Hut,” his beautiful one-bedroom light and airy unit is located in the more secluded and peaceful section of Sea Mountain Resort at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach. Stay on your private lanai and enjoy the ocean views and sunrises. Or, take a short walk to the world famous Black Sand Beach, where the protected green sea turtles can be seen in their natural habitat. A few steps further leads you along the ancient Ala Kahakai Trail fronting our resort and beyond, to discover petroglyphs and heiaus dating back to pre-contact times along the rugged coastline, all without ever having to get in your car!  When you do venture out with your vehicle, we are ideally located between Kailua-Kona and Hilo, making day trips to either side of the island's attractions easy, and dining in the two local communities of Naalehu or Pahala a breeze. We're also only a short half hour drive to Volcanoes National Park and its awesome eruption shows. A short drive takes you to Papakolea, our incredible GREEN Sands Beach, or tour nearby Kula Kai Caverns in Ocean View, South Point, and Wood Valley.

The unit itself features a comfy king bed, a pull-out sofa with a queen-sized quality mattress, a spacious bathroom with shower and a well-stocked kitchen. It is also equipped with beach chairs and towels, umbrella, aqua socks and quality snorkel sets. We have earned more FIVE STAR ratings than any other listing in our resort, or our district!

Super close to black sand beach with "Old Hawaii" style feel
Clean unit, Old Hawaii style complex, grounds are well kept with pretty flowers and palms, coastal ocean view from this units ground floor lanai...pool has coastal view too. Feels private most of the time.Unit has 2 units above and one on side...if your neighbors are noisy at night you are going to hear them...needs some kind of sound deadening for the ceiling.

Black Sand Beach Condo
You have to go down a flight of steps to enter the condo which could be a challenge carrying luggage. The internet did not work until Julie came to the rescue with the updated Wi-Fi information. Thank you again Julie! The condo was small, but conveniently located and adequately equipped.

Didn’t meet expectations
The good: great spot for bird watching, the complex is well maintained with pretty gardens, staff onsite (although not affiliated with this booking) are very friendly and helpful. The unfortunate: was given an incorrect code for the front door, was given incorrect information for the internet, sound transfer from the upper unit is significant, there is a large population of unhoused people living on the beach/ green space between this complex and the shoreline and we weren’t sure about overall security. Also, this unit is on the basement floor in a tropical area, so expect insects.

Nice condo but isolated community
The condo itself the pool area and the property we enjoyed but this location is very isolated from everything, 15min drive to closest town. I was not aware that the condos here was literally the only thing around but the beach. Not bad for a short stay but be prepared with everything you need for a few days before you go.

We love staying in Punaluu every time we come back to visit family in Pahala since it’s a short 10 minute drive. The location is great if you’re looking to get away from the cities. Communication with the property manager was great and we were very pleased with this specific condo for its location and amenities. Definitely will look at staying here again in the future!

Quiet getaway
I loved how close to the turtle beach it is. Snorkeled with turtles every day. It is a small unit but well layed out and has everything you need to be comfortable. Space is a little tight for 4 but would be perfect for 2 and can stretch to 3. We enjoyed exploring South point and volcanoes np. I would highly recommend if you want a slow paced and quiet getaway.

The location of this unit is very private and quiet -- great little lawn with hose to wash off sand and feet before entering unit. Ocean view. I would def. stay here again!

Very Disappointed with our weekend away
We arrived to this condo with high hopes of a lovely weekend away for my husband's birthday. First we were told that we had the dates wrong--we weren't due in til tomorrow. After going back and forth for a while the manager finally admitted they must have copied the dates wrong into their separate calendar. No apologies though. Then we were mortified to find that the adjoining condo was going through a renovation. We were assaulted with the sound of pounding hammers, power tools and a loud radio for the construction workers. A large truck with a trailer was parked right out our door where they dragged cabinets and debris from the wreckage. We called Julie, the host and she told us we needed to take our complaints to the resident manager up the road. No offer to call to sort things out for us. No apologies. We didn't want to be confrontational in person so we just gave up and suffered through a noisy weekend. This property should not be rented during this renovation and the lack of care from the manager was very disappointing.
