Isolated lakeside house, view of glaciers & volcanoes, good for day trips - new!

Herrukot, our holiday home built in 2015, is located in a gorgeous isolated location right on the lakeside. The house contains two separate bedrooms, each with very comfortable beds that are 90x200 cm in size, a bathroom with a floor-level shower, underfloor heating throughout the house, living/dining room with a pull-out sofa bed for two, and a completely equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, a ceramic-top stove (4 hobs), and an oven. With a floor area of 66 sq.m, it offers a relaxing vacation. Wi-Fi is available at no cost, as well as bed linen, bath towels, and dish towels. The icing on the cake is the 60-sq.m wooden terrace with its own hot tub and a fantastic view of the lake, mountains, and the Hekla Volcano. The house is somewhat isolated, though because of its ideal location in the Southern Region, it is great for winter stays. The Northern Lights are a completely different experience as there are no lights from nearby houses. Our farmhouse is just 400 m away, you can certainly ride out from our farm. Weekend away
House was very clean and had everything we could ask for. Location was remote but gorgeous. We had amazing views of th northern lights 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. Was a good midway point for all of the things we wanted to see. Would love to stay again.

Choose this place for a great view over a lovely lake, a large deck with a spacious hot tub feed by natural hot water, very clean and thoughtfully built and supplied house, quiet surroundings and the best horse riding experience around! We LOVED our stay here. Renata and her family are so friendly.

Amazing Time
The Lake House was beautiful and clean. It was a great spot to start all our adventures traversing the South side of Iceland. We arrived later in the day and had a bit of an embarrassing mix-up with our directions. However, Renate was very nice about us driving into the horse training area, sorry again for that. She was also very responsive to all our needs and our stay was just wonderful. We did not see the Northern Lights, but that may just mean we have to go back. Next time during a month when they are more prevalent. Thank you for everything Renate, you were a great host!

Great Location - super relaxing - everything you need
Stayed here with two kids and two adults - fantastic location, very peaceful and quiet. Located about 5 km off of the main highway 1, it was a great central place to take in some of the Golden Circle sights and also going down to Vik and the Black Sand Beach. Rejkavik was also within reach if we desired, but we had a separate stay in Rejkavik. Would definitely stay here again.

Southern Iceland gem
We deeply enjoyed our time at this fabulous and unique property. Visiting in March, we caught the northern lights 3 out of 6 nights. The location is secluded and serene; you basically have a private lake. The extremely large windows in the living and dining areas really draw you into the landscape, simply fantastic! The proximity to natural attractions and Selfoss for food/dining/shops was very good, with the house as our base of operations for a 1 week trip. We greatly enjoyed the hot tub and found the entire premises very spiffy and well maintained. The owners were very warm and accessible, checking that we settled in and had everything we needed. The internet was 100% reliable and worked well to satisfy all needs for a device-heavy family of 4. Amazing clear night views of more stars than you’ve probably ever seen. Brush up on your photography. You’ll experience absolute silence, except for the whispering wind. The perfect place to unwind and immerse yourself in Iceland.

This rental was a wonderful place to stay with her family and two kids it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, nice bed linens and towels. The heating system was superb, and lots of opportunities to open the windows and French doors to letting some fresh air. The view of the frozen lake was spectacular. Lovely to hear the wind wrestling through the trees at night, and total tranquility.

The house is LOVELY. Simple, clean and has just what you need. Location is amazing, with views of dark sky for miles. Best place for viewing is inside the hot pot (naturally fed hot tub located on deck). Day trips to Golden circle were easy, but we also liked the property so much, we spent an entire (rainy, windy, cold) day there exploring and relaxing (after our overnight flight). Property owners were quick to respond when we had questions, and accomadating with our requests. The hot pot was VERY hot, likely due to the natural hot water, but much hotter than expected.

Absolutely stunning lake house with splendid views. Large windows, huge deck and a relaxing hot tub perfect for any nature lover or romantic getaway. Host Renate was communicative and helpful. Remote location is well suited for Aurora gazing. In a wonderful central location for excursions to Reykavik, Golden Circle and Vik. We are hoping for an opportunity to return to this fabulous house.

A beautiful, peaceful location
This small cottage has everything for a relaxed stay. It is in an idyllically remote setting but only a few minutes by car to the main road. Good shopping in Selfoss for supplies. It has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. Ideal for a family of 4. It is warm and cosy and has a anti room with the washing machine and drying rack. This room is very good for drying. We had a lovely stay. You can’t beat the view here! Gorgeous lakeside views no matter where you look, and occasionally you can see sheep and ponies grazing on the hills from the house. The hot tub is wonderful and the house is great for making breakfast before heading out for the day. 20ish minutes from Selfoss and centrally located for many things to visit!

Stop looking; you found paradise!
I passed a lot of guest houses and hotels when traveling South Iceland. None of them would neasure up to this slice of heaven. The view is phenomenal. The access to the ring road is easy. The interaction with the owner was awesome. I cannot recommend high enough. I hope i get to come back here when i visit South Iceland again.
