The Funky Flamingo - Neptune's Grotto Old Florida Adventure Retreats

Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape! Located in Weeki Wachee at Neptune's Grotto Old Florida Adventure Retreat on a Spring with easy access to the Gulf Of Mexico and Weeki Wachee River. Kayaks are provided for adventure on the water. Head to nearby Weeki Wachee River or out to the paddling trails by the Gulf! There is a park style grill on site, an outdoor sink, an outdoor shower and a shared restroom with a toilet and a sink, all steps away from your camper. No pets allowed.
The space
Inside of this vintage 1966 camper you will have 2 single beds (approximately the size of a camping cot), a mini fridge, coffee pot, microwave, AC and a Fire TV with Hulu plus live TV. Lots of comforts while still roughing it!
Guest access
You will have access to a beach with Adirondack chairs, a park style charcoal grill, restroom with a toilet and sink, an outdoor shower with hot water and access to the water that surrounds the property.
Other things to note
The camper is located at Neptune’s Grotto, An Old Florida Adventure Retreat. There are other guests staying at the lodge using the outdoor facilities and boat rentals at the dock in front of the camper. As you can see from the photos, the camper is small, the interior clearance is not intended to provide standing room and the beds are the size of a camping cot. Essentially this is a glorified camping experience with the comfort of air conditioning, electricity, TV, availability of a restroom and shower and the ability to get inside away from rainy weather or insects such as mosquitoes and no-see-ums which naturally occur in the outdoors of Florida. Bring some bug spray to enjoy the outdoors in the morning and evening.!

Cute place in the water.
This property is located close to many of the attractions and is super cute. We enjoyed hanging out by the water and seeing fish and other wildlife around. We will definitely come back.

Girls trip!
We only stayed one night but it was great, even with a thunderstorm! We would definitely go back and stay longer so we could use the kayaks and sit on the dock with morning coffee and watch for dolphins and manatees.

Awesome
This was exactly what we thought it would be. Please know that if you are an outdoors type person and just need a place to watch tv while you fall asleep then this is for you. Keep in mind it is small but very comfortable. Woke up and had my coffee with about 25 manatee in the water just outside the camper!! How neat to see them and all the fish and sharks too. Would definitely stay here again and try my luck at fishing next time. Outdoor shower did not disappoint and the water was nice and hot! Great location and setup. Thank You for sharing this Oasis you have there.

Nature Coast Glamping
Cute and cozy little trailer on a canal right around the corner from Weeki Wachee and Rogers Park, perfect for short/small folks like me. I'm 5'2" and could stand up straight, but anyone taller would need to duck, beds are narrow. Bathroom in main building is clean and convenient, and the outdoor shower has nice hot water, good pressure. Large fire pit right next to the backwater. Space heater in winter keeps you warm in temps below 50F. I had a bit of cell signal with AT&T. Wifi works and the TV has a couple streaming services. Surprising number of outlets for a tiny trailer! Not really "private" with people around most of the time, as Florida coastline is popular, but nights are very quiet. In winter there's a chance to wake up with manatees right next to the trailer, and listen to owls at night. Ideal for kayaking with lots of birds and fish, water is tannic/murky but clearer as you get closer to the springs. Places to eat accessible from the water, kayak to lunch or dinner and paddle back with a great sunset (bring headlight)! Quiet spot right next to popular Nature Coast attractions :)

So tiny and cute!
At first I was taken back with just how small this camper is, but after I got settled in I realized it was the perfect size for a single person. You could certainly fit 2 people in there but you better REALLY like each other! The AC does a decent job and there are plenty of little places to stash your stuff. Plus, the camper is just a few feet from where you park so you can always keep larger items in your car. The location is PERFECT!! The canal is so peaceful and there’s lots to do within a short 5-10 min drive. I really appreciated the man who helped me set sail on my first kayaking adventure too! The free kayak was such a bonus considering how expensive it is to rent boats in the area. Overall it was an awesome experience. It’s definitely not for anyone real tall or someone who needs to stretch out or spend lot of time inside. It’s a great little place to drop off your stuff during the day and lay your head at night. Thanks so much!

What a hidden gem! We enjoyed the location a ton. The Pink Flammingo was clean and very welcoming. Our only complaint was the beds were tiny compared to the pics, and the hubby couldn't quite stand up straight inside, but we were only there to sleep so it all worked out. The outdoor shower brought me back to my camp counselor days, my only suggestion would be to switch the latch around so that the person in the shower has control of the door the entire time.

Short and sweet
Location was easy and Pine Island was a great spot to go watch the sunset! Contact with host was very fast. Internet never worked properly and cell coverage for ATT not great but chose to leave work emails etc. for when in better coverage. Boat rentals also right there if you wish and would definitely come back! Great spot!
