Loved the Spa, thought it was 1st rate. The public areas were very good and the garden looked lovely. The shuttle bus was good especially when it is raining (although not everyone queuing were able to catch it which was uncomfortable). Perhaps it could run more often? The room lacked a fridge, air conditioning, we weren’t able to utilise the towel rail. At breakfast there was a lot of queuing for food and in particular for hot drinks. Having to walk through reception in a robe to/from the Spa was somewhat uncomfortable too.

Lovely quiet setting but close to town. Spa facilities are great after a busy day sight seeing. Nice gardens. Very efficient friendly staff.

Our room was fairly large and clean. Tea , coffee and bottle water were top-up every day. The room was a bit dark, better lighting would make it more cheerful. The hotel is on top of a small hill, so lots of steps to climb from the main road.

Exterior photos slightly misleading. Lovely hotel, good location, really clean. Spa balcony rooms have a balcony which overlooks the spa building…a garden roof would have been a nice idea. One big downside of this hotel is there were no beans at breakfast time! The spa is lovely.

Ideal short break - Hotel has it all
Great stay at the Hotel De France. Facilities were excellent, ideal for relaxing and chilling out. Food and service was exceptional, the staff were always happy to help with information and advice about where to visit and get the most out of our stay. This is our second break at this hotel, and plan to return.

Unpleasant single room with shield on windows
Staff is amazing. Friendly and professional But my single room was claustrophobic.. the windows has some kind of white shield to not let anyone see in (I was in a remote corner of the hotel) but it made the room very unpleasant. It was already a small bedroom and this made it even worse. I think this should be advertised when selling the room because I would have never spent 200 pounds in such a room. It wasn't a good stay at all. Before seeing the room I was offered an upgrade for 60/90 pounts to a double room but I refused because I was told that the size was anyways the same. When I got to my single room I was quite upset. I didn't say anything because I was told the hotel was sold out.
