The place is fairly run down, but I understand new owners have just taken over. The reason we booked here is because it is pet friendly. A lot of motels in Taupo are not. We were only there to sleep, so on the whole the experience was not too bad. The place does some potential to be tidied up.

This is the 2nd time i have stayed here and it will be the last. Both times the room hasnt been clean with scum on the walls and toilet. Very noisy neighbours. Also not accommodating at all. I rode my car off on the way to the motel and the wouldnt comprise with my booking at all.

For a name like 'Grandeur', I was expecting a reasonable level of comfort. It may have been nice 5 or 10 years ago. But now feels derelict, barely maintained. It beats sleeping on the streets. But feels like a crappy rental. I promptly booked a different motel.

The room was terribly dirty. There were nappies and dirty socks left in the room when we checked in. The rook was very smelly. Never use here.

This seems like a business in transition. Some of the unit/buildings had been done up very nicely and other parts were a bit old and tired. The grounds with a thermal stream were beautiful. Other than aesthetics, it had everything expected: nice beds, a stocked kitchenette, couch and tv, wifi, parking, a little playground, and a big soa bath with towels.

Parklike setting 3 mins from Taupo Lake. Great bed, clean linen and water pressure. Quiet setting. Sadly my superior chalet was unmaintained for 70 years. Curtain rails detached, unwashed cups in cupboard and floor unswept. Things just seemed grimy. Tried to cancel on arrival. I suggested they accurately describe property - there was nothing superior here. Thanks for partial refund given.

This place obviously used to be amazing in its hey day. However the buildings and surrounds are dilapidated and in need of repair. We had an end unit, two beds upstairs and a double downstairs at the back. My son slept on a rollaway bed. Sheets were clean and beds were comfortable. Bathroom was average. Toilet and basins were clean and functional. No towel rail. Shower had no plug and looked gross. Only my daughter used it once. Spa bath was a nice addition although in the freezing back room, however was happy to have a bath rather than use the shower. Kitchen was basic but clean. Overall we got what we paid for. Nothing fancy. Not super clean. Old and tired facilities. Staff Were friendly and helpful. Also gun range could be heard from there which was annoying.

The room was clean and we added another person to stay which was kind of the hotel. They had all the necessities and it was quiet where we were to. The outside needs upgrading in my opinion, but overall it was an awesome stay. One thing i think needs looking at is paying at the property. When I booked it said I could pay at the property, when I got there as I wanted to pay in cash the person at the counter said it was already charged to my bank acct. I thought that was odd sure enough it had been taken out of my card that day. Just lucky I had money in my card.

Easy check in with friendly staff. Loved the fact they had put the heater on before we arrived. Other guests respected the noise regulation so we had an undisturbed night. Very good value, we didn’t expect an ultra modern set up. Everything we needed.

Booking and check in was straight forward and easy. Room was warm when we arrived which was good. Beds were made well. Towels and bedding clean. But unfortunately it goes down hill from there. Walls were dirty, doors dirty, sofa was dirty, used soap from previous guest in shower, previous guests hair in bathroom vanity/ draws, spa had a poo smell when using the jets/ bubbles, jug for a coffee and plug in heater didn’t work. A power point switch was not working and unsafe to use dusty on surface's and inside cupboards which holds cutlery, no flannels to wash your face. No extra blankets if you get chilly in the night. Good unit with plenty of potential but needs a bloody good clean.

If you looking for a Thermal Spa Resort- this is not that. If you looking for a cabin in the woods, and a bed to sleep this is your place. The Hotel is very run down, and falling apart. They have tried to make it nice by painting etc but overall, very old and well used. For this type of money, you are better to stay at the campgrounds down the road.

A bit of NZ history and must have been a ‘Grandeur’ in its day so I hope it’s restored! Good price, perhaps reflecting its quaintness! Great for accessing the bike tracks and free hot pools.
