Solid travelers' hotel. A step up from the usual American model. Clean, quite, modern, good water pressure. Seems to cater to a Euro-crowd with cars. We had a larger room, but I think the bulk of the business comes from a block of 24 standard rooms.
Small pool, quiet restaurant area, nice grounds.
Rooms were modern and fully outfitted, no complaints. The cleaner that was being used was a bit overwhelming, though, and we had to air out the room.
Central Valladolid is about 2km away, and we drove there. Really a charming small city not taken over by tourism. Easy to drive around town, unlike Merida, where we spent the bulk of our time.
After two weeks in the Yucatan, this was the first place we heard Maya being spoken. Since he asked, I'll mention the breakfast waiter, Marcelino, who gave us a small Maya phrase guide for our journey into the countryside. I appreciate his engagement and desire to make our stay more enlightening.
The restaurant Ix Cat Ik is only three blocks away, albeit on poor sidewalks. Worth checking out if you have the budget for it.
