"We stayed in this home for the full month of March 2025. We rated this a 10 based on our top three requirements: next to the ocean, clean, comfortable beds. This home met all three requirements. The ocean with its spectacular crashing waves, stunning views, and swimming turtles was wonderful. The sound of the waves at night along with the comfortable bed made for excellent sleeping. The home was clean and the two new area rugs were a nice update. However, as others have noted, this home would benefit from additional updates. For example, the couch is very uncomfortable. Our inquiries via email were answered promptly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay."

"Conveniently located inside the national park. Hiking trails along the rim are literally steps away from the inn. Was fortunate to be able to watch the Kīlauea eruption from the inn. Can’t get any better. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and as good as one can expect from a place over 170 years old. Best part is there was no television as one should be outdoors enjoying nature and the night skies. "

"Great stay and enjoyed every aspect of the home itself. Lava flows were cool to explore but took away from the traditional ‘beach experience’. That’s the only concern we had… driving to actual sand beaches. Again, minor detail for our group but a family with younger kids might have had issues. Would stay here again for sure. "

"The rooms are very large - I could easily have slept in the walk-in closet - and the kitchen on site was very convenient. The hotel is set back quite a ways from the road and the site is quiet. The owner was lovely and let me borrow a garden hose after our rental car got covered in volcano debris - very much appreciated, and definitely above and beyond!"
