The hotel is right next to the railway station and very convenient for access to restaurants and shops. The staff were courteous and generally very helpful. The room was also very spacious. However, I got the impression that the place is in great need of updating and maintenance. We were put in rooms near the roof, where there were several flights of stairs to deal with after getting out of the lift. This made accessing the room with heavy luggage tricky. Also, the floor had flaking plaster on the walls and stained carpets. I'm afraid I won't stay there again, despite the well-trained staff and nice breakfast.

Average stay in a hotel that looked beautiful.
Excellent location. Spa disappointment as you have to walk up/downstairs, where people have walked with shoes on in bare feet and in between facilities on wet slippy floor. Pool small and cold. However very nice staff. Hotel looks beautiful reception area, but rooms dated but were a good price. Noisy outside area in middle of night at front hotel rooms.

Average stay.
Bed and bathroom clean but due old building and single glazed windows my room was cold and drafty when i arrived. No heating on so i put radiator on when i arrived and kept it on all night which helped. Also due to windows there was ALOT of noise from outside, including music from bars nearby, drunk people shouting and traffic noise. Shower was a dribble and had to stand against the wall to get under warer and have a shower.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, strange room layout.
The chain on the door came straight off as it was attached to a lump of wood and wedged in the door slot, this wasn’t ideal with a 4 year old escapologist so made us all uneasy for the night. The hotel was clean, the location is great, parking wasn’t a problem at all, checking staff were helpful, only other issue was the upstairs then downstairs to get to the room as the layout is strange. But this was a trial run for next years Newcastle trip so overall I’d say a solid 7/10

Booked in the morning of arrival expecting all the amenities and nothing to say they weren’t available ,was trying to phone the hotel for an hour before arrival with no answer to enquire about parking , receptionist was surly and uninterested , asked about the pleasure facilities the reason for choosing that hotel , we arrived at 4pm and were told it closed at 5pm but you can’t get in after 4:30 so would have no time to use it , we called the pleasure club from the room and he said 5:30 but it was closed as they’d had a power cut ! Not mentioned online or at reception The room was tired and dirty around the furniture , there was stains on the quilt , the bed was comfortable but there was a lot of music noise coming from the main road , bar staff was lovely really friendly , and so where the security staff really are a credit to the hotel very polite and chatty , I’m very disappointed that this was supposed to be a relaxing night between Christmas and newyear and just ended up disappointing and irritating I’d like a refund as we didn’t get the service we paid for and unapologetic reception staff left a lot to be desired

It's a brilliant location but no measures are taken to prevent the rumbustious noise from the Newcastle night life towards which our room was facing. No secondary double glazing or similar. Hence, we had a very, very poor night's sleep.

I really wouldn’t know where to start but I was pleased to leave … awful dark gloomy room, pool wasn’t on which was the main reason for booking with my 5yrs old granddaughter… bath wouldn’t empty and plug release came off in my hand … dust everywhere just disappointed was hoping for a lovely night and not what we got
