The room smelled like cigarette smoke and it was very uncomfortable because of that. We will chose a different hotel next time.

Non smoking room… I think not
We had 2 rooms. Both non smoking but one of the rooms absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. Unfortunately it was the room assigned to me and I suffer from asthma so I had a very difficult time breathing and sleeping was limited. Our other room had our children and it was not feasible to swap rooms. I do not know if we would consider going to siunroute again as it is very hot and miss with the rooms.

The service: great. Location: convenient. Wifi: terrible. Overall it was a good experience and I am happy. But WiFi can be a let down if you're planning to work online. Other than that I recommend the stay!

Convenient, but room had cigarette smell
Room was clean and location pretty convenient, within walking distance from Niigata station. We booked a non smoking room, but the room still had cigarette smell throughout our stay. Also, there were no options of turning on the air conditioner, as there was only the heater, which made the room too warm at night. We could open the window to let it cold air, but the surrounding was quite noisy hence it was not that pleasant as well.

A 4-star hotel with 3-star price
The hotel is reasonable priced and room size is acceptable. This is unlike some hotel in Japan with no more than 11 sq m. Parking fee is comparablely cost higher in other parts of Tohoku (Niigata is not part of Tohoku).

Good place to stay in Niigata
Hotel is near Niigata JR Station. The hotel staff are helpful. We had a massage chair in our room and we make use of it everyday after our long walk everyday. Thanks Hotel Sunroute Niigata.

Location and price is good. But smoke problem.
Overall it was good, price and location, biggest problem is their ventilation, seems connected with that of the smoking rooms (centrally?) or just because of the age of the hotel. I was no different from sleeping in a smoking room, which is bad for a non-smoker and arranged a so-called non-smoking room. Though the room was very clean and the hotel is thoughtful in the details. Stayed for one night and I won't stay here again.

God breakfast with a choice of Japanese and Western food; especially good scrambled eggs. Wi-fi was frequently off and on which made posting on Facebook very tedious.

Loved the location and the convenience to the train station. Hotel has also has low price laundry facilities. However Hotel is older, beds not comfortable and rooms could have been cleanier.

Dated Business Hotel, but With Good Rates
This hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from Niigata Station, but it’s not altogether easy to find. The hotel is really dated--due for a makeover. My room was clean and passable, but the window looked out on the building right next door. The staff was just fine--polite and welcoming--but not especially attentive. The biggest advantages to the place were the location and the price.
