Hotel was great, convenient for Basel (15 walk to riverfront) right next to Spalen Gate. Staff were great, we managed to get parking on site but few spaces available - charged my hybrid car for a low price. Lovely hotel

Very comfortable, a convenient location and friendly staff. Basel tourist pass is a very good idea! (Bathroom entrance is rather narrow, however, and Switzerland is very expensive!)

Great Visit
We booked the room for a brief Basel visit after a Rhine River cruise. Upon check in, they gave us a Basel Card for discounts all over the city including free public transportation. They took the time to tell us where to go and what to see. Very engaging and helpful staff. The room was very comfortable and had all the amenities. We enjoyed refreshments in the garden and then adventured out.

Great overnight stay in Basel
Great location just outside the old city gate and next to the Botanical Gardens. Hotel staff were very friendly and we were also upgraded to a deluxe room! The breakfast was a delicious full hot breakfast.

Great hotel on all levels
Hotel inside is super nice, clean, bed is very comfortable and staff is 10-stars! Location is great. Quiet and walking distance to many key sights and the Basel card is awesome with free access to public transportation. I would definitely recommend hotel Spalentor!

My wife and I booked a one night stay at the end of a cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. We arrived at the hotel at 10 AM and were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was available for us. The hotel clerk was most helpful, providing us with passes for the local bus and tram system and directions on how to get to the meeting point for our walking tour. When I asked about how to get a cab to the airport, she offered to book one for us but pointed out that the bus trip was free and simple (it was!) and the bus stop was 100 yards from our hotel door. The room was clean, spacious and very nicely appointed. The hotel has an in-house bar but no restaurant, and in-house food options are limited. This was a total non-issue, as it is located a short, pleasant walk from many shops and restaurants and we were able to get a good feel of the city in the one day we were there. It may have been a little bit pricier than some other hotel options but given its proximity to some picturesque areas and the convenience of transport to BSL airport, it more than makes up for any price savings. Worth a look if you're planning a stay in Basel.
