La Paz itself is stunning: built into the canyon of the Choqueyapu River, its narrow cobblestone streets and dramatic inclines are presided over by the majestic snowcapped peak of Mt. Illimani. It's an adventure just walking around the city to take in the sights and explore the numerous open-air markets.
