"The cottage is absolutely adorable outside and inside! We had never been to the Carolinas so we very much appreciated the welcome book filled with valuable information about places to eat and fun outdoor activities! Everything was clean and cozy. The outdoor water feature had the most peaceful sound and was beautiful to look at. We plan to return again this summer and will definitely try to rent the same cottage again! "

"I loved this property - beautiful location, less than 10 minutes from downtown Highlands, and perfect for groups. It was the right size for our group of 10 with plenty of space for eating & playing games together. The renovations make the property updated but it keeps a mountain cozy feel. Beautiful views from the cabin. The kitchen is well stocked & great for cooking in. Our primary complaint was with temperature regulation. Upstairs primary bedroom was at times 10-15 degrees hotter than the common areas, while the bunk room has no heating unit/vents if its own and was very cool. That room stayed cold for the entirety of our stay. The primary bathroom upstairs got very hot at times and the property could benefit from some improvements in heating/air. We had four cars there which at times got very crowded and difficult to navigate for coming and going, but this would have been fine with less cars. Overall HIGHLY recommend this property & would stay here again! "

"My sister, nephew and I had a very enjoyable time in the Author’s Cabin. The only drawback is that we were on a main road and traffic in the am was a distraction. The fireplace is very cozy and really heats the entire cabin. I would recommend it to anyone!"

"We had a wonderful Thanksgiving stay at this charming cabin! Our family of four felt right at home thanks to the incredibly comfortable beds and the cozy, rustic vibe of the house. The fireplace was a highlight for us, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The location couldn’t have been better—just a short drive to Highlands, making it so convenient to explore the area. We cooked our Thanksgiving meals here, and the kitchen worked out well. That said, if you're planning to do more extensive cooking, we’d recommend bringing your own spices and knives to make things a bit easier. A couple of things to note: the house is quite open, so sounds carry easily between rooms. This wasn’t an issue for us but could be something to keep in mind depending on your group. Also, it was quite chilly when we arrived, but the in-room heaters warmed things up nicely after a few minutes. Just be prepared for a little extra bundling up during fall or winter stays, as there’s no central heating/AC. Overall, we had such a great time and truly enjoyed our stay. We’d happily return and recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a cozy getaway near Highlands!"
