Nice Area hotel needs renovations
The Carlton Hotel needs to be updated. While it was clean, it felt very stuffy in the room. Most of the staff was very very nice. The area was cute.

The property is extremely beautiful, and the neighborhood is upscale. There are a lot of things to do within walking distance and parking is plentiful. The inside is modern and well maintained.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. We were there to visit the Frank Loyd Wright and the Ernest Hemingway houses and they are about 15 minutes walk from the Hotel and the light rail into Chicago is just a 5 minute walk away. The only negatives are that there is very little counter space in the bathroom, and the description says each room has a kitchen, but it was really just a small counter space with a coffee machine and microwave and a few coffee cups with no plates, bowls, or flatware.

Great area -- walkable to all kinds of shops and restaurants. Hotel was lovely and room was larger than expected. Only complaint would be the really aged sofa in our living area -- no padding and when you sat on it, you sank in, since the springs were "done".
