This spacious 5BR estate was designed in 1890 by Hyman Witcover (architect of Savannah’s beautiful gold-domed City Hall) for prominent Savannah native, Simon P. Kehoe. Simon was the son of William Kehoe, beloved citizen and founder of The Kehoe Iron Works. After undergoing an expansive restoration, ‘The Simon’ offers a one-of-a-kind Savannah experience. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is one of the city’s most well-preserved examples of the Queen Anne Revival architectural style.
THE LOCATION
Located just off of Lafayette Square, The Simon is in the heart of Savannah’s historic district. You’ll find the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Hamilton-Turner House and the Andrew Low House mere steps from the front porch. Situated right around the corner is Pinkie Masters, McDonough’s, and Hitch. Walk a few squares to the south and find Forsyth Park with nearby coffee shops and a weekly farmer’s market. Less than a half-mile away, explore the SCAD campus or enjoy a show at the Savannah Theater. Architecture buffs can stop by the Davenport House Museum or Owens-Thomas House, then visit Leopold’s Ice Cream for a sweet treat.
KITCHEN & DINING
You’ll find everything you need to prepare delicious meals in the well-appointed kitchen, complete with stainless steel appliances and high-end cookware. A convenient cocktail and coffee bar includes all the right tools for morning and evening beverages.
Gather for meals at the in-kitchen dining table, the intimate breakfast nook, at the formal dining room with seating for 10, or outside on the porch.
LIVING ROOM
Lounge in the main living area that accommodates your entire group, while unwinding listening to some tunes on the Sonos speaker. The vivid sun-filled parlor overlooks the sprawling front porch and quiet Harris Street. The architectural focal point from the interior is the original tiger oak mantle with ornate columns and intricately carved faces. Dramatic leaded windows in the entry hall cast waves of rainbow prisms into the living area on sunny afternoons.
BED & BATH
Bedrooms are open and airy with high ceilings and tall windows. There are two full baths on the first floor, and two full baths upstairs.
The first-floor primary bedroom is fitted with a plush king bed, en-suite bath with walk-in shower, and access to the very-private side porch.
A lovely staircase leads to the second floor with four guest bedrooms. The second bedroom has the king bed nestled into the beautiful bay window, which is a prime feature of the Queen Anne Revival style. The large bedroom is fitted with the original fireplace and a private dressing nook with full length mirror.
The third bedroom has a king bed, original fireplace, and a beautiful leaded glass window. The cozy fourth bedroom boasts a colorful fireplace and a queen bed.
The roomy second-floor primary has a king bed, en-suite bath, and a view of the Cathedral spire. An adjacent bonus den has a queen sleeper sofa and desk.
