Well run, clean hostel in a very convenient position. Just a short walk from Ueno Railway station.
If you want a safe, secure bed for the night this is it. Literally just a mattress with 4 walls around it. Good light and charging station.
My capsule was super dusty and even after speaking with an employee it was still dusty the next day. Had to ask again to get it clean right away. Air conditioner is non existent if your capsule is on the other end of the hall so it will be super hot and uncomfortable. You have to buy towels after the first night because they won't give you a new one the next day
So much potential but missed the mark. Location is great.Close to train, restaurants and shopping area(about 7-10 min. walking distance). Also close to Ueno Park area with all the museums (15-20 min walk).
Clean bed & clean bathroom.Shampoo/Body wash in shower.Standing shower, no onsen or open bathing.Heated toilet.
1.The main offense to not liking this place is its lack of locker storage. There are cool illustrations on the walls, something to admire. But without locker storage, the halls are filled with people's luggages all out in the open. It's safe enough to assume that no one would go through your things & take anything but that lack of security can bring on insecurity as you travel & explore Tokyo all day.
2.Shoes are off as you enter dorm/sleeping area to keep the place clean but no sandals are provided. Think of going to the bathroom with all these other people in your socks/feet,then going into your bed or putting on your shoes. It's gross.
3.The towels (big & small) are provided on your first day are the towels you will use for your whole stay. Now, where do you plan on keeping these dry?In your capsule bed room?In the hallways?I tossed in the towel bin the first night & had to ask reception the next day for another since no towels were provided the next day.
4.The light in the bed capsule has no dimmer. The fan barely does anything. It's like one of those fans in your computer.
5.The lobby is only place to work, but too low to actually work.
It seems a new hostel and it's clean. 10 min away from Ueno station (if you get the right exit).
The hostel is ok but it did not meet my expectations.
The common room is not welcoming at all. There is no kitchen or fridge to keep your food. There is no place to get water apart from the vending machines which are more expensive that the ones outside.
There are no rules in the rooms apart from shoes off. So people can get loud or talk on the phone while you are trying to sleep.
