"This home was exactly what we were looking for! Cute, clean, private, close to an awesome beach, great hosts, all the amenities we could need! There were a/c units for my daughter who enjoys to cool off, but individual units in the rooms so I could embrace and enjoy the fresh natural air!they had books, beach equipment, a Ukelele, and lesson book, and an outdoor shower for after the beach! The hosts were prompt in responding and very helpful! It is rare that I enjoy staying places longer than a few days but I could have stayed another week as it was so great!"

"Hale Makai is a gorgeous home(cottage) on the west side of Kauai. The tranquil space was the perfect home away from home as we adventured around the island. The hosts did an amazing job communicating with us both before and during our stay, promptly answering and mitigating any issues we may have had. The home is beautiful, the hot tub the patio, the lanai, the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms were absolutely perfect. The location of the cottage is perfect for a more quiet home space. It's across the street from a beautiful black sand beach, a short drive to many white sand beaches with many other adventures within a maximum 1.5 hour drive. If you like to cook, and even if you don't, you will find everything you need at Hale Makai. The kitchen is so well equipped it was a pleasure to stay home and cook our meals. Locally sourced beef, fish and coffee were our favourites. The sunsets on the west side just down the road we were told are the best on the island. Take a walk or quick drive to Kekaha Beach Park for the sunsets and views of the Ni'Ihua (the forbidden island). We hope to return to the island and to Hale Makai someday. Mahalo "

"Our family of 4 chose to stay here, close to a beach. We knew that Kekaha Beach may not be swimming safe for our 6 and 8 year old, but the beach was stunning as well as the canyon range within view. Our kids did swim on the calmest of days during spring brealm Salt pond beach 20 minutes away and worked out well for the kids and adults. There were beach towels, chairs, coolers, snorkeling gear, beach toys, boogie boards. The home was cozy, stocked with everything needed even some previously left sunscreen and spices/oil in the pantry. The home did get warm midday, but there are fans throughout the home and most of the time was spent out of the house during the day. Sunsets are beautiful at Kekaha. The outside shower is amazing. The laundry facilities was also a real nice amenity. Great stay for a family. Perfect for a less busy area but every where is a drive from here. Waimea is close and a great place to stop for shopping, dining, shave ice at Jojos. The hosts were very receptive to inquiries/texts. Thank you, Liz and Chad!"

"Roomy comfortable house in great location on Kauai's south shore. And our hosts were very helpful in arranging a fantastic boat excusion to see the incredible Na Pali coast. We would be happy to return to this home. "

"This house was perfect for our stay. We have a member of our family with celiac disease, so we prepared most of our meals at home. The kitchen was perfectly suited for our meals and the grill was outstanding. The rooms were spacious and the furniture so comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt very safe in our surroundings. We could even walk to the beach if desired. Overall, we loved every minute of our stay!"
