"Remodeled historic hotel. The rooms were small but clean. Just a little noisy from the road and the room above us. The balcony was our favorite place to hang out. Off season prices were about average. My wife and I have been coming to Nevada City for almost 50 years. This is the first time staying at the National. Check 1 off our bucket list."

"Awesome stay especially for those traveling with pets. The staff way not only friendly but went out their way to make us and our dog feel welcomed. The rooms are clean and quiet and beds are comfy. They do a good morning breakfast too, fresh fruit, yogurt and eggs which is more than most continental breakfast days. Our dog bacon too :) Lastly location couldn’t be better, right down town but off Main Street so easy safe parking. This will definitely be where we stay in Grassvalley from now on."

"This property is one of a kind! By far one of the cleanest places I have stayed and so welcoming. We had a mix up with our reservations so we only got to stay 1 night instead of 2, in the Daphne cottage but it was wonderful. I wouldn’t recommend walking into town from the cottages, it’s a bit of a walk, down hill going but up coming. But a very short drive, we drove into town twice and it was worth it. The manager or owner, not sure which, but she was a delight, helpful from the second I realized something was wrong with our reservation and even more so to help fix the problem! Even noticed our room was still rather cold around 10pm and brought us a space heater…it was a cold evening. I’ll definitely be looking forward to staying here again and they’re dog friendly if you need it! "
