Jennifer and her husband are very friendly and hospitable. It’s a cute little place to stay, and they’re pet friendly so I’ll have to bring mine next time. They have peacocks, dogs, a goat and a cat (that I saw there). As a young woman traveling solo, I felt very safe here. The bed was squeaky, but if you don’t toss and turn in your sleep, it won’t be a bother. The walls are also thin so you’ll hear anyone up and about if you’re a light sleeper, but I had earplugs and slept well through the night.

Liked that they offered a hot tub room. What I didn't like was it is listed that it's in Beatty, NV. It's actually located 35 minutes north of Beatty. Should have checked where it actually was located before I booked. My bad.

Unique, picturesque, with excellent service.

This is a unique locale, decorated with furnishings and pictures from a bygone era. The hostess was incredibly friendly and served me a delicious breakfast when I wanted it.

Great little spot to relax.

The place is great! I'm not into hotel chains and run of the mill standard motels. This place has character, great hosts, and is in the middle of nowhere. The stars are bright, the peacocks on property are beautiful, and the sunrises and sunsets spectacular. A little further from Death Valley than Beatty, but totally worth it to stay here.

We stayed two nights. Very friendly staff and interesting history of the property! Also good breakfast as well! It’s just too far up but it will be a lot better once Scotty’s Castle Road opens. I will look forward to visiting again!

Very hospitable and friendly. As you would expect, the decor is eclectic and interesting. We shared the evening with other guests in the dining room and had a good time. Room is small and would benefit from an update.

Incredible hosts, amazing atmosphere

Hosts were so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so fun and unlike any other place I’ve stayed. The location was quiet and away from hustle bustle. Very much enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay again.

Shady for sure

Disgusting. We were placed in an old mobile home on the property and were greeted by a dead mouse in the kitchen and droppings on the nightstand. LOTS of droppings. It stunk. While the peacocks are cool there is bird poop everywhere. The pool looked more like a livestock tank and was disgusting. Keep driving or sleep in your car.

On our road trips, we have stayed in many hotels and motels, the Shady Lady was a unique and wonderful experience! Incredible desert views, lots of wildlife, and yes, a delicious breakfast! Extraordinarily pet friendly, more so than any hotel we’ve stayed at.

We didn't know (because Expedia didn't emphasize is) that the Shady Lady is located about 35 miles north of Beatty, NV. Because of that we ended up driving 70 miles, round trip, just to find our evening meal. The property itself has an interesting decor, as it was a brothel until about 12 years ago. We stayed in the Victorian Room. It is very lavender, with gold accents, interesting lamps and tasteful pictures of half naked women. Breakfast was served on vintage dishes. The coffee and conversation around the table were good. One of the owners, Jennifer, was sweet and attentive. We enjoyed our visit.
