**DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY** I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel, which I chose for its LGBT-friendly reputation. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. Firstly, the cleanliness of the hotel - The room and common areas were noticeably dirty, which was quite off-putting, namely the carpets in the hallways - filthy. The Maintenance in the room was poor - the jet bath didn’t work, and the ceiling had holes in it and teh couch smelled of stale urine. The air conditioning in my room didn’t work during a heatwave with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius. It was unbearable, and despite requesting assistance, no fan was provided until the last day of my stay. Additionally, the steam room and jacuzzi, which were among the amenities I was looking forward to, just didn’t work. This lack of functional facilities was a significant letdown. The team were nice & the location was good - but there are better hotels in the local vicinity that are better value for money and don’t cash in on the LGBTQ+ community by marketing themselves as “hetro friendly”. I chose this hotel for its reputation as an LGBTQ+ friendly establishment and its appeal to gay travellers. Unfortunately, the facilities and overall maintenance fell short of expectations. I worry that this situation may persist as long as the hotel continues to leverage its LGBTQ+ reputation to attract guests without delivering the quality that travellers clearly deserve.

2 night stay. AC was out. No clean towels at gym. Gym lockers broken. Jacuzzi broken. No closet in room. Shower was difficult to get in/out. Very unsafe. Bed was good.

Great Location, poor aircon for summer
The hotel is a great location and the spa is very nice except the spa was not heated. The biggest issue was the lack of reasonable functional air-conditioning as it was extremely hot and hard to sleep due to the efficiency of the air-conditioning. All the guests were complaining and regrettably it is what it is.

Bedbugs found in room switched rooms at 1 AM and was too scared to sleep in the new room a 30 minute nap when she used to shower but only had scolding hot water on both showers and burnt myself and then called 11 o’clock to remind me that I had to check at 12 which I was fully aware of to management Got no response. Sent an email. We’ll see what they do. They don’t seem to care about anybody or customer service. It’s very sad

Location is amazing, but it's very noisy in the hotel, doors closing is very loud, hallway carpet is very dirty, and upon check out they charge "city tax" that no one knows about, Expedia mentions "payment includes all taxes" but they ask for it even though they don't even mention it upon check in.

The hotel boasts an excellent location for those seeking proximity to gay bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. However, the hotel's interior could benefit from a much-needed renovation. In comparison to our previous stay at the Axel hotel in Barcelona, which offered more amenities and a better condition, this hotel falls short. The spa area was also underwhelming as most of the facilities were not functional. We found the location to be the hotel's saving grace, as it allowed us to avoid the touristy areas and enjoy a more local experience.

I booked 2 nights. The first night the AC wasn't working. The second night the AC wasn't working either, they made me move to another room with AC "working" but the room was TAKEN, it was really awkward to open that room with a key that was asigned as it was a non-taken room. Walked back to reception to let them know this issue, they changed the room again, but guess what? for the 3rd time the AC wasn't working. The last room had the AC working but not so well and it had that smoke smell. As a visitor from a foreign country I was expecting to not have any issues of this kind in a first-world country. Very dissapointed.

Overall a decent hotel. Enjoyed the rooftop hottub, sauna, and socializing with other guests from around the world. Location was nice. Breakfast was substantial. Room was very small, shower flooded part of the room every time I used it (horrible drainage), staff denied laundry service when I asked them (but then I was provided with a laundry sheet in the room?), there was a bit of an unpleasant ‘smell’ in the room, and the hotel really didn’t live up to the hype or expectation.

The Axel Hotel describes itself as hetero-friendly, which is a clever way of saying that it is designed primarily as a hotel for gay men. The decor reflects the gay vibe: mostly black with lots of wall to ceiling mirrors which mislead you into thinking there are long corridors, until you nearly bump into one. My room was a good size, overlooking a garden. Large and comfortable bed. Excellent shower. Breakfast costs extra and was worth it. The hotel is less than ten minutes by cab from the main station and five minutes walk from an underground station. As a gay man, I was happy to be in a hotel with other gay men. The decor hadn't changed since I was last there five years ago and, although it was in good order, maybe it's time to lighten it up a bit.
